I'm not sure if I was more aware of it because this wasn’t my first or if things changed since I had Charlie, but the targeted ads and pregnancy content I got in my feed really felt like companies were/are preying on paranoia. The number of ads I got for fetal dopplers alone was wild.

Our daughter, Jade, made her entrance into the world on Friday! She had to complicate things a bit—after starting off in the right position, she decided to turn, resulting in an unexpected C-section. The recovery has been rough, but otherwise, she and I are doing great.

I took a creative nonfiction class in college, & most of our reading was by men. But my professor, a woman, did include some by women. A male classmate complained about not being able to relate to their work. My professor said, “The girls have to read books by men. Do you think they relate to that?”

As anyone in publishing will tell you, women do not resist reading books by men, but men will often dismiss books by women. This is not a publishing problem or a failure to target men. It's a misogyny problem.
