You can also make a phone app out of it -- on iOS you do this by going to the site in your browser, then choosing Share>Add to Home Screen. (You might have to tap View More to find that option.) Will it make sense? Maybe. Maybe not. 😃 Have fun! #earlymodernengland #historicgames #d12 #17thcentury

So I had to make a digital version: litlnemo.github.io/dodechedron-... Pick a query, click on the die, and presto! Be warned -- the language is all original Early Modern English so you have to do some interpretation! And of course it has some Early Modern attitudes as well.
The Dodechedron of Fortune digital version. Illustrated with a woodcut of an angel with a blue gown and yellow wings, holding a box that says "Now cast ye the dye." Inside the box is a D12 die.

🧵 Some years ago I got a printed replica of a 1613 fortune-telling book called the Dodechedron (sic) of Fortune, an English translation of an older French book. You choose a query, roll a D12, and using a chart and the results of the roll, find the answer to your question. It is silly and fun.
The title page of the book The Dodechedron (sic) of Fortune; or, The Exercise of a Quick Wit, published in 1613.

It's interesting how well Ray Bradbury predicted smart houses, but didn't figure out that the computers could actually handle paying your bills for you as well, instead of just telling you when to pay them.

Happy "There Will Come Soft Rains" Day! Ray Bradbury's greatest short story takes place on August 4, 2026 (in most editions; see alt text). If you haven't seen it, you must watch this incredibly disturbing animated Soviet version (Uzbekfilm, 1984.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oxP...
Image of text, from Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains":

"Today is August 4, 2026," said a second voice from the kitchen ceiling, "in the city of Allendale, California." It repeated the date three times for memory's sake. "Today is Mr. Featherstone's birthday. Today is the anniversary of Tilita's marriage. Insurance is payable, as are the water, gas, and light bills."

(The date was April 28, 1985 in the original printing; very recent editions give the date as August 4, 2057.)

And I could argue that a model sticking to the plate too hard or not enough is generally not the fault of the model itself. It can be any number of things that cause this.

#3dprinting complaint: If a model is labeled and photographed showing it is VASE MODE, it is an AH move to rate it low on Makerworld for "lack of strength." My dude, vase mode is ONE LAYER THICK by definition. That it broke when you took it off the plate is a you issue not the model's fault.
