And assaulting a senator or representative when defending their constituency is attacking democracy, as well as all of the people that person represents. How dare they treat the Senate, Congress, and Californians that way?

In addition to protesting and supporting your community, call your reps. It always seems futile, but it does matter. Stay hydrated, stay safe. Take care of your neighbors. And as always, punch Nazis.

🙄I spend way too much time at the office because I run it. I don't want my employees living at the office. I'm setting things up to make my business fully remote because I don't want to live at the office either. Much easier to balance life when I work from home. What is wrong with these people?

Understandable. I'm not trying to invalidate how you're feeling. The entire thing is unsettling, so I get why people are reluctant and would decide to at the very least hold off on filing.

R.M. @literarytabby.bsky.social · 07/02/2025

There’s no reason to not file - I am filing. I expect to owe & I do plan on paying. The unknowns here are the issue. Musk has access at the moment. We don’t know what that means yet. For now, the industry is proceeding as normal. I’m just recognizing that what is happening is not normal.

Just breathe. Unknowns are unknowns, and I'm not a fan. Until we understand what is even being done or "decisions" being made w/all that sensitive data...we won't know how bad or benign it all is. Worth remembering that the chaos is the point. Meanwhile, enjoy: youtube.com/shorts/sLn8G...

I've worked (and still do) in the tax preparation industry for 20+ years and let's just say...there are a lot of unknowns from my standpoint right now. So far we are proceeding with Tax Season as usual, but I do not expect April to go smoothly. If you can file early this year, I'd advise that.

I’m going to say something historians rarely say. We haven’t been here before. We haven’t had a near-authoritarian takeover of our government. Admittedly, we don’t know what comes next. There’s a wide array of options. But know that in the US, this is new ground. And none of this is normal.
