The problem with this article is that the media hasn't been very empathetic here. This isn't a case of "white man kills family" and the photo is him jet skiing. The media has actually been trying pretty hard to shame everyone who is being empathetic to him. The empathy is coming from social media.

Photoshops by people with poor photoshopping skills are more endearing - and environmentally friendly - than these AI images. This is absolutely no better at getting the technical details right (e.g. the faces of the 2) than a bad photoshopper.

I fully support the introduction of tethered plastic bottle lids to reduce the amount of plastic bottle tops littered. But the current design of the lids is so bad, the tether is so short, that it’s almost impossible to get the lid back on if you don’t chug it in one. Yes I just got a shower of OJ

Living in a block of flats, I’m so scared that one of my neighbours might be charging one of these things in here. In the BBC article about this fire it says this: The *government* is aware it can ban these things; rather than just advising ppl not to buy them? www.bbc.com/news/article...

Anyone reading the Cass Review should be able to see it was political, with a set end point dictated in advance. It was criticised at the time by scientists for this. Every other country’s reviews on gender affirming care has found puberty blockers are safe. Cass’ report should be binned.

"Wrong people listened to on puberty blockers ban". The National in Scotland continuing to do some good work.
Wrong people listened to on puberty blockers ban
The National (Scotland)17 Dec 2024Steph Paton

Trans people are spoken about but not to by the mainstream press
IN indefinitely extending the ban on puberty blockers for trans young people, Labour have enacted the first piece of anti-LGBT legislation to come from Westminster in 36 years.

And like the ban on teaching of LGBTQ+ identities enacted in 1988, it is grounded in little more than a moral panic that harms young people.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting claims that the decision to extend the Conservative Party’s ban on something which is a reversible and safe means to give young people the time and space to decide what is right for them was taken after receiving expert advice. But the Government’s own consultation process tells another story.

If, as the Government’s proponents are so quick to say, we must take the heat out of the so-called transgender debate, the route to doing so must surely be through expert opinion and by listening to the experiences of young trans people themselves.

🚨 Carmarthenshire Winter Pride cancelled after legal threats from GCs and the Free Speech Union.
IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT ON THE CANCELLATION OF CARMARTHENSHIRE WINTER PRIDE
Carmarthenshire Winter Pride is an event that we have continuously stated is safe from hate, and is to promote the equality of all members of the LGBTQIA+ Community and not just LGBQIA+ members.
However, we were contacted this morning by the Free Speech Union (FSU) threatening legal action against CETMA if we stopped a person with Gender Critical Beliefs from attending tomorrow’s Carmarthenshire Winter Pride Event.
The reasons given to us are that we are discriminating against this person under the Equality Act 2010.
In order to avoid legal action against us, we have been told that we have to provide:
A written assurance that members of the general public, including the person in question will not be excluded from the event and from any future events on the basis of their legally held beliefs.
We understand people have different viewpoints, some of which are protected under the Equalities Act, and this we respect. However, by allowing the person to enter, it would mean that we would be going against the wishes of our staff and volunteers who don’t feel comfortable with the person in question attending. There are also the performers, speakers and the general public who’s views also matter.
Therefore, in order to avoid any legal action against CETMA, we (The Event Team) have sadly taken the very difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's event.
CETMA DOES NOT have the funds to take part in any legal proceedings. Instead, we need to use our resources on supporting the community with food parcels, mental health support and other services rather than legal action.
We understand that this will come as a disappointment to many people but feel that you will accept our decision and understand the reasons for it.
We’d like to thank The John Burns Centre, Simon J’s Pizzeria, the organisations, speakers and performers for their understanding and support with this matter.

A person's gender doesn't belong to anyone else. It's only theirs. That's what it means for something to be an identity. It's not your-dentity or their-dentity or mom's-dentity. It's I-dentity. A parent has no more control over this than they have over any other individual's gender.
