"Let’s drop the minimising headlines and build services, and a public conversation, that match the evidence and the lived reality." Our latest blog from @lisamcnally.bsky.social discusses the dangers of framing mental distress as mere “stress” 👇 www.centreformentalhealth.org.uk/life-being-s...
Quote from Lisa McNally: "When serious distress is dismissed, people stay ill longer, relationships strain, productivity falls, and the costs of crisis care and lost participation mount...
Pretending the rise [in mental health problems] is merely “over diagnosis” won’t make the problem go away; it will entrench it.”

There are a lot of people struggling this weekend. Some I know personally. For what it's worth - please know you're not alone. You're loved and valued. The world is a brighter and more beautiful place with you in it. Please stay. -
Picture of a semicolon. Particularly within the context of the Project Semicolon movement, this is a symbol of hope and continuation, not an end, representing the choice to live and overcome mental health struggles, especially those related to suicide. It's a visual reminder that a person's story is not finished, even when faced with difficult circumstances.

This is an important public health matter! Exercise and movement should be accessible for all yet so many barriers exist like cost and proximity. And if you’ve never had ability or inclination to be active much yourself, it can have a huge generational impact.

🧵Today we launch the #FutureMinds campaign, urging the Government too see support for children’s mental health as an investment in the future of our society – a future we cannot afford to jeopardise. The costs of inaction are far greater than the investment we could make now to turn the tide. 1/11
Right now... Young people with diagnosable levels of mental distress have almost doubled since 2017. Demand for mental health services has never been higher, with nearly 2 million young people in contact with services in October 2024. But well over half of young people considered to have a mental health condition have no contact with NHS services. Young people deserve better. Future Minds campaign: Centre for Mental Health, Centre for Young Lives, Children & Young People's Mental Health Coalition, Prudence Trust, Young Minds.

There was a new RD on the block today as long-time volunteer Bethan stepped behind the megaphone to welcome 142 participants to muddy RTW. She was ably supported by 54 volunteers, which is a pretty impressive ratio of volunteers to participants! View the results: www.parkrun.org.uk/royaltunbrid...
A person wearing a blue with silver stripes high visibility parkrun vest - the colour reserved for the person in charge of the event (the Run Director) - speaks into a megaphone that is coincidentally the same colour blue and white as the vest. The person is wearing blue jeans, a dark blue hoody jumper and a white wooly hat, so all the blue, white and silver is a nice colour coordination. She's stood in a park, there's a small bare tree behind her, and a lot of grass.
