The former Marine David J. Morris, author of a book on post-
traumatic stress disorder, notes that the disorder is far more com-
mon and far more rarely addressed among rape survivors than
combat veterans. He wrote me, “The science on the subject is pretty
clear: according to the New England Journal of Medicine, rape is about
four times more likely to result in diagnosable PTSD than combat.
Think about that for a moment— being raped is four times more psy-
chologically disturbing than going off to a war and being shot at and
blown up. And because there are currently no enduring cultural nar-
ratives that allow women to look upon their survival as somehow he-
roic or honorable, the potential for enduring damage is even greater.”

Americans are less adept at discerning the mortality of our leaders because they do not fully realize they are living in a mafia state and that basic protocol — like letting the public know where an ailing Senator has been for two months — will not be followed.
Americans lack the great skill of the Uzbeks: mish-mish, which replaced facts so long ago, it became honed into a form of discernment.
When you constantly expect lies but refuse to accept lies (a critical distinction), you become better at finding the truth. Surviving an autocracy means not only believing that the unfathomable is possible, but that it's probably happening, so you better start planning for what comes next.
It is very unpleasant to live in a state run on mish-mish, but at least Uzbeks know it's mish-mish, instead of calling it, like, "The Washington Post" or something.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,
