Have the honor of chairing the session "wired for worry": circuits underlying anxiety at #IUPS25. Enjoying great talks on plasticity, GABA, serotinin...- as well as cookies and informal discussions.

This paper includes the most beautiful glutamate transporter currents we have ever recorded in the lab! We show that astrocytes are greatly affected and that the amount of current, and thus the uptake, is greatly reduced in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

Reactive Astrocytes with Reduced Function of Glutamate Transporters in the AppNL-G-F Knock-in Mice
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is associated with synaptic and memory dysfunction. One of the hallmarks of AD is reactive astrogliosis, with reactive astrocytes surrounding amyloid plaques in the brain. Ast...

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

The perk of being at a university: engaged students! Finishing a day of nitty-gritty labwork at Studentföreningen Verdandis seminar about law, society and the current, scary, development. Painful, but at a high level, with @amandasokolnicki.bsky.social and @mruotsi.bsky.social

Enhancing my understanding of the work from collaborator Robert Boden by acting as a guinea-pig in transcranial ultrasound stimulation experiment. Treatment with great potential and fascinating for a basic scientist working on activity induced plasticity.
