At #FENS2026 ? Our new data on #electricalsynapses tomorrow: Olga Netsyk shows how #gapjunctions time spikes even in a ”slow” network (PS04-678) & Andriana Mantzafou reveals how removing electrical synapses alters the rules of engagement in a circuit and can even make rats better fathers (PS04-677).

Why simply ending animal testing isn’t the answer in biomedical research
Animal models provide insights that alternative approaches can’t. A heated debate about which method is better is distracting researchers from doing good science.

Maternal aggression driven by the transient mobilisation of a dormant hormone-sensitive circuit - Nature Communications
Mothers can fiercely defend their young, but how the brain triggers this response remains to a large extent a mystery. Here, authors show that a dormant, hormone-sensitive brain circuit switches on to spark maternal aggression during the lactation period.
