I hope a big part of this story is how Trans rights won. Markey wrote the transgender bill of rights. Unabashedly campaigned on that (among other things). Moulton questioned whether trans kids should play sports. Then doubled down. Dems should take big note here.

The Christopher Street Project was erected by Tyler Hack to support leaders in Congress who will not waiver in their fight for transgender rights. The support of this organization means something. A vote for Markey in the Massachusetts Senate primary is a vote for human rights.

It would be more accurate to say that the WNBA has been targeted by anti-trans hate groups

The WNBA has been the subject of recent debates on whether transgender women — people assigned male at birth who transition to align with their gender identity — should be allowed to participate in the league. There has never been such a player in the WNBA.

Although the league’s collective bargaining agreement says the WNBA is restricted to women, it contains no more specific language about gender identity or sex assigned at birth.

The Globe is simply lying here. What Seth Moulton actually did was refer to trans girls as “male,” imply they would hurt people, and say he didn't want them playing sports with his own daughters. It was blatant bigotry. He talked about trans girls the way segregationists talked about Black children.

Perhaps the starkest evidence Markey supporters can cite for dismissing Moulton are the congressman’s post-election remarks in 2024 about commiserating with parents who worried about having trans girls playing girls sports. He was attempting, ham-fistedly perhaps, to point out that the Trump campaign had successfully exploited Democrats’ unwillingness to discuss the issue — one that polls clearly show troubles not just independent voters but also more than a few Democrats.

“Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face,” Moulton told the Times. “I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”

Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

The Farm Bill draft released by the Senate does not do enough to stop the dangerous and inhumane HR1 cuts to SNAP. Call your senators (especially if they are on the agriculture committee!) and demand a two year delay in the cost shift at a bare minimum; we really need complete reversal.
