was watching the Seto-digital Pharaoh duel from DSOD for Reasons and noticed something interesting the Pharaoh's duel disk largely uses the manga design (where it doesn't have buttons) but it takes aspects from the anime's - the color, a collapsible blade, and having distinct Spell/Trap Zones

The Pharaoh's Duel Disk, folded. The manga never depicted the Battle City Duel Disk with any configuration but the full, solid blade. (The bits surrounding the Deck Zone and Graveyard are also red here, while they're white in the manga.)

The Pharaoh's currently activating a Spell Card here, but it's not visible on the Duel Disk. The anime's iteration allows this, with there being five Spell/Trap Zone slots underneath the Monster Card Zones, but the manga placed everything in the same zones (this is a plot point in the Strings Duel, since it limited him to playing five cards at once). (Dark Magician should probably be on here, though, since he's being Summoned.)

a better shot exists, probably, but i couldn't get it. here you can see a slot for a Spell/Trap Card Zone on the duel disk. again, this doesn't exist on the manga duel disk, you *only* have room for five cards on your field

one feature i kinda wish they'd re-implement is the "Attack when dealing effective damage" thing from Mystery. like Gordin has 14 regular attack and 32 "eff. attack" (9 Mt * 3 + 5 Str) with a Steel Bow. especially since a) they're making it hard to check weapon Mt and b) there's two effective tiers

also iirc they said Tag Force GX was 3 specifically, yeah? which is good for a variety of reasons, but the one that scratches my particular itch is that it has Synchro Monsters so Chazz can use two of his prominent cards from the manga, which for some reason were released irl as Synchros

Light End Dragon, a LIGHT Dragon Synchro Monster that can lower its ATK to lower the ATK of the monster it’s battling more

Dark End Dragon, a DARK Dragon Synchro Monster that can lower its ATK to send an opposing monster to the Graveyard (NOT destroy it).

my hot TCG take is that the wording of Metallic Hammer is actually incredibly straightforward and every issue with it is people assuming discarding is a cost instead of part of the effect (at the very least I think it's better than Torrential Pump which is... hopefully less hot?)

An attack from Chaos Rising Metagross called Metallic Hammer. It deals 150 damage, with the option to deal 150 more and discard 3 Metal Energy from Metagross.

Dueled Jonouchi (Joey) using a Puppet Deck, stalling with high DEF monsters while using Battlefield Tragedy to send cards from her opponent's Deck to the Graveyard when they try to break through (or, alternatively, when they are *forced* to by her other cards).

Jean from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, who is part of a team that starts off smashing the opponent, then transitions into a mill strategy eventually. Now that I write this out it feels kinda disjointed...

yugioh 5D's uses the term "banish" in terms of sending a card to the graveyard a fair chunk and while it's absolutely not its fault it always throws me for a bit of a loop because "banish" is an actual game term as of 2011 so there's always a part of me going "noooo that's not what you're doiiiing"
