If everything is so optimized there's no room for give or take and things fall apart, you're still stuck with your body and your relationships and your finances. If you leave a little room for rest and not checking off every item on your list, you at least have adjustment room if things change.

I also kind of miss libraries that had listening stations. I get that it's mostly impossible now because staff have been cut to the bone, collection budgets have been cut to the bone, but...people would come in, trade their library card (or ID, or car keys...or whatever) to "check out" headphones.
