That nagging feeling I will have to excise several thousand words from one of my WIPs (not the most current active one, thankfully)

Extremely high concept for someone with more time on their hands than me. A Choose Your Own Adventure style book where you have to deal yourself a hand of cards before reading To make choice A, play a club to go to page X, or play another card to go to page Y

Hi, I'm Autumn, and I wrote a lesbian romcom for trans women who wanted to see themselves in a fun, low-stakes story. Because we deserve to have those nice, light reads, too. buy.bookfunnel.com/ar67zvbc7p

Someone messaged me on DeviantArt asking if I take requests. This is never a good sign, but I'm an open-minded person. So my response is that they are free to propose something and I am free not to do it.

In honor of a good day of writing, here's the latest teaser.

The corner of what appears to be a face with a wide-mouthed grin, showing lots of teeth, and a shoulder that may or may not be attached, with the strap of a garment. Behind, blue, lightly clouded sky.

Just over 1900 words added today. Total word count sits at 14450. It would be kind of nuts if this were to be about the halfway point, but I also don't want to shortchange this thing. I'm having fun, we'll see how it goes.

My latest work, of which I am immensely proud, is the 90s chapter book pastiche TRAPPED IN TINA! The 7th installment of the (nonexistent) You Can Call Me Alien series (TK Jenkins was a big Paul Simon fan) Check it out!

I thought about this on and off over the weekend. I think for me what it comes down to is that so much of the TG-TF genre is either slapstick (>90% of mainstream content) or smut (>90% of internet content). Content that is rooted in character and story — taking both seriously — is rare in the genre.

Not to toot my/our own horn, but I think the last year or so of writing at the Trading Post has been one of the best since the beginning, overall. In addition to Jay's and my work, people also responded to work from newer writers.

Think of the X-Men. In the comics, Rogue's big problem is that she absorbs the powers and memories of anyone she touches. She's plagued by feeling isolated, and by the psychological torment created by her powers. This is not something most people have to deal with. It's not a real problem. But.
