Both were curious enough to activate it and turn Dr. B into Ellie's double, but it had just enough life left for one change, also leaving their host and his wife switched.

It was tough at first, but Ellie helped "Lisbeth" adapt, figuring that if some guy was going to be mistaken for her, he/she shouldn't make her look a slob. He took to it surprisingly well, finding it useful to stand out in what were often groups of middle-aged men and being welcomed into the sorts of clubs and social groups he hadn't had time for (or been spurned from) when young; a lot of people were asking Jasper if Ellie was hiding the same bangin' body as her "sister" under her modest clothes.

And to make matters worse, Jasper's schedule always had him meeting Dr. B at the end of the day, when she was getting ready to go out, and while she never came on to him, she'd also seem to find ways to get in close enough that he could smell her perfume or otherwise get overwhelmed by her sex appeal, and always seemed to wind up leaving the office with an erection!

In the caption, Lisbeth knows it's ridiculous, because the one she's talking to, Aisling, has marked every possible calendar and sent numerous texts about the ceremony, but Lisbeth isn't looking to convince so much as be just believable enough that Aisling won't turn them into toads or the like, the same way that she has turned Jason, Felix, and Martin into women, along with the rest of the residents of the sorority house. Each was in some way responsible for a previous resident leaving the school, and while Aisling figured it was ultimately the work of some rival coven, there was still power in rebuilding hers with those she felt wronged her, with Felix/Lisbeth, a professor at the university, first. She'd initially felt terrified and played the part out of fear of what Aisling would do otherwise, and gave Jason/Sonja a leg up when the new roommate appeared.

Now, though, they were trying to avoid their confirmation ceremony - Felix said it just didn't feel right, Sonja isn't actually sure Aisling's powers came from worshipping Hecate, and Terri says Aisling's denomination with its male and female energy and strict gender roles sounds as bad as the church her parents dragged her to, though the lesbian polygamy is different.

They're actually relieved to see Aisling more heartbroken than angry - she's not a bad kid but too powerful for her own good - and say there will be plenty of other solstices, but for now they want to go out and have fun with the new lives she gave them.

Steve had originally been hired to do motion capture for martial-arts scenes - his mother Cindy had retired from making action movies when she had him, but taught him his style, and he had been doing that for animated/CGI films since her minor stroke - but a robotics company had come on board as a sponsor, so it became tele-operation. Which was all well and good until a power surge left a copy of Steve's consciousness inside the Cindybot, somehow, and found it quite uncomfortable when the other Steve or the body double for the non-martial arts scenes tried to puppeteer him.

He knew that this was technically a horror story, but it wasn't so bad; he (she? they? it?) didn't get tired or hungry, and didn't feel like an emotionless machine (though how would he know and would anyone on set say so?). The company had promised not to deactivate him and make cosmetic changes so he wouldn't look like and older-but-fit woman. They assumed he would choose to look as much like his original self as possible, but he was wondering if maybe he could become a star looking like Cindy's long-lost daughter or niece. On the other hand, Cindy's old co-stars hitting on him was weird, and there'd probably be a lot more of that if he looked like her in her prime!

Not that she wants to do it with her brother, that'd be gross, but maybe her buddy Jeff, though she really seems to be having a hard time seeing why Charlotte broke up based on the tape!

Becky waves it off, saying she'd just build another, and Lizzie would get so bored living Felix's life that they'd be back in a month.

Felix expected some strangeness when he married into a family of mad scientists. Becky was the smartest, funniest, kindest person he knew, but Lizzie was stubborn, lazy, and brilliant enough to get away with it, though that's not what Felix had mean to imply when he said it was just putting the work in at the gym after a compliment on a double date. Still, it was easier in her mind to create a nanotech that unraveled brains and transferred them between crania via a tube on the nose than committing a couple hours a week, letting Felix work out in her body while she was back at the lab. To be fair, considering the sisters' work, he was surprised it took this long to end up female or in someone else's body, and was glad Lizzie trusted him.

He didn't expect how Becky reacted, though; she knew it was Felix in there, but it could feel like spending time with her sister but without the competition and resentment, and she sometimes treated him more like Lizzie than Felix. For instance, she definitely would have discussed something like this with her husband but always felt she knew what was best for her sister, who hadn't talked with their mother in a decade, what with her hiding in her volcanic island lair when Lizzie graduated high school.

Felix adds that this won't work, but Becky says not to worry - just like working out, Lizzie will happily reap the benefits of Felix's work!

In the caption, the former ("Wendy") is kid of unnerved by the attention; six months ago, when she went by "John", she'd been ready to abandon her family for this possibility. That's when her girlfriend Carrie had discovered the Medallion of Zulo and they started going through thrift shops and yard sales for outfits whose last wearer was someone she could see herself as. This was the best - younger but not too much so, nice face and figure - and after briefly switching back to close out some business, it's who Wendy became.

They were kind of surprised when she didn't have a first period, but figured that the body maybe needed time to adapt, but when she missed a second, they went to the doctor and found out she was pregnant. She insisted to Carrie that she hadn't slept with a man but had maybe been excited enough by the change to somehow impregnate her new form. Carrie said she would have forgiven the curiosity but not the lie, and left her.

Wendy had kind of crashed out on her old social media account after that, which her cousin Daisy had interpreted as fretting over her boyfriend John leaving her, and took her in, saying she knew John was unhappy about something in his life and it wasn't about her. Ever since, Daisy and the rest of John's family had been really supportive, including throwing her this shower, and it was enough to make Wendy wonder if she should tell them that the person they knew as John hadn't really disappeared!

Not recognizing Felix's voice, Greta asks who she is and what she's doing with her boyfriend's phone. He says he is Felix, though his new ID says "Lisbeth", and they apparently have an ex-girlfriend in common.

Greta gasps, shocked he left THAT Sophie for her, but it's apparently a small city. Felix is both glad she believes him but unnerved that his girlfriend used to be a man herself, saying, yeah, she must have seen them together and then called him to say she'd found a book he left behind moving out, and then he walked straight into a pentagram. Greta said that how she got her too, and guesses that the spell held him in place until he had to walk home in something skintight? Felix confirms, and says he knew Sophie was kind of mean, but this is too much.

Greta says to look on the bright side; apparently Sophie got annoyed by the ex before her whining so much, so she'd refined the spell so folks would acclimate to being women fairly quickly, and "Lisbeth" would have Greta to help her out, sharing clothes and teaching her makeup. That made Felix laugh, because Sophie had apparently refined the spell again so she wouldn't lose another boyfriend to someone who had a type - Lisbeth was not going to be sharing clothes and makeup tips with tall blondes like Greta and Sophie!

I'm usually going more for "'meant to be' is a trap because nature doesn't have intent, so do what feels right", but that's a tricky thing to put in a character's mouth!

In the caption, "Reiko" is telling husband Kenji that he'll really enjoy his business trip to Paris; she's been five times and it never gets old. He expresses regret she can't come with him even after five years, but she says they know the rules - no baby, no passport, even though they're doing everything they can to get her knocked up.

It's still odd for Kenji to hear - one of the things he loves about Reiko is that she's as brash as the European man she used to be before The Great Shift landed 95% of the world in new bodies, but that also made her seeming enthusiasm to become pregnant kind of strange, making him wonder if she was just doing it to be able to go home.

Most countries in the wake of the Shift had signed a treaty allowing repatriation of their residents no matter the citizenship of the bodies they had wound up in, but Japan was a holdout; even before, immigration was difficult and in the aftermath they worried about both their birthrate and ethnic/cultural homogeneity with people reluctant to form relationships in new bodies, ethnic Japanese with foreigners inside returning home, and Japanese people inside tourists diluting the gene pool. Having wound up in the body of a local teenage girl, tourist Felix had been denied an exit visa and encouraged to take language classes for a work permit, and a new girl's got to eat. She'd initially started dating looking to game the system, but she and Kenji (himself a former woman) had married within a year of meeting. They sometimes scandalized their friends by openly talking about who they used to be, more taboo in post-Shift Japan than elsewhere, but complemented each other well, so that Reiko figured that even if she did try to leave, it would have to be with Kenji rather than alone.

In the caption, Wendy's girlfriend Anna gasps, saying she didn't know Wendy was rich, to which she says she's not, her cousins are, and it's more rich-ish; they've owned the building for generations but it's their only asset they still have to work to make a living. Or did. When Anna says they must be close, Wendy says not really, for reasons having to do with how, when practically everyone ended up in new bodies due to the Great Shift, Wendy adapted to having new curves and plumbing very enthusiastically.

The cousins, on the other hand, gained about 20 years and a bunch of chronic medical problems, and needed looking after, and since Owen's son and Bartholamew's daughter haven't been able to get permission to leave Japan since the Shift, Wendy is the closest relative, and while sometimes she'd like to just sit back and laugh at how it was karma that those transphobic bigots became elderly Pakistani women, free rent in exchange is hard to pass up, and she'd feel terrible when their kids finally did get home.

Anna smiles and says Wendy's a good'n, and Wendy says she's not that good - the buzzing of her phone probably meant their breakfast was five minutes late and they were staring from the upper windows, and Wendy spending the next ten minutes kissing her girlfriend goodbye might really drive them nuts.

The heck is going on in the background? Is the guy in a half-submerged boat with oddly-placed controls or is he trying to find something he stuck to the underside of a pedestrian bridge? Obviously I'm thinking bizarre body-swap story, but how bizarre is it?
