i experienced exactly the same disorientation - i'd even described the movie to my Gen Z daughter as about a 90s TV show before i saw it - and it took some mental work to re-ground myself as a viewer.

the last case i worked on before quitting my job in May (blessed event) involved two plaintiffs, not represented by attorneys, whose pleadings were clearly AI generated. pages of argument, no applicable law, dismissed on our (not cheap) motion. i feel like i got out just in time.

all of these guys (other than the one with the picture) are liberal-leaning, would likely describe themselves as feminists or feminist-adjacent. all are straight and date women. one is married and has two daughters. not a fucking one of them would say a word.

i was grossed out, told him to delete it, asked him why he kept it. i didn't let it go, and i was pissed off, and i could feel the other guys getting twitchy (at me and the dynamic). but not a single one of them joined me. the picture was not deleted.

he hasn't spoken with her since that night, but she still practices in our town. she passed out in his bed at the end of the night & he took a picture of her. in his bed. passed out. he kept the picture. he showed it to all of us. he thought it was funny, and also, weirdly, "insurance"

my personal experience with this dynamic: at a bar w/5 male colleagues (all attorneys in their 30s/40s). one tells the table about a woman he'd been out with, drinking, several years earlier. he's a known horndog, a boaster about the women he picks up in bars; the guys love him & still do, afaik
