I think it's gotta be Dumbo. All of it. The way Dumbo is bullied, the abuse of his mother, the way the circus exploits him, and of course the fucking hallucinations.

My mom's strategy with our last puppy was to let her bring sticks inside. It meant having shards of wood in the kitchen for like a year but she actually left the furniture alone. I'm not sure that would work for anyone else though, my mom has dog magic

And I have a strategy to handle the time it will take to change over the routing and account numbers for all the things that autodeduct or will need to be verified before I can pay them that gives me breathing room for the transition.

I have to change banks for my business account and it only took me less than an hour to find all the paperwork 🤞 necessary to opening a checking account at a new institution.

There is a dog barking on the street somewhere outside and you will notice I am also not interested in what is upsetting him. He can be upset as he likes. that's a him problem.

I think that question is useful here because there's no benefit of the doubt being given except that SOMEONE did, someone who approved the image being posted, so what did THEY think of meant, what brief were they offered that made this acceptable

The plush rendition of our childhood dog he sewed, getting the template by calling her over to lie down on the black felt (which she did because she loved him) The joy he took in teaching a later dog to roll over and play dead when my dad cocked and fired a finger gun at her

The cooler of cocktails he had ready in the backseat when he came to pick up me and my then fiancee at the airport on Florida The summer he bleached his (thinning, curly, short, light brown) hair blond, to be like Perfect Tommy, prompting another classmate's father to do the same 😬

The slutty little cutoffs he wore to mow our lawn that had a classmate's mom refer to him as our lawnboy The time he skewered his own arm on a share of glass as a result of a game of imaginary ping-pong The ziggurat he basically built for me for a school project out of foam board, glue, and sand

I didn't get up to speak at the "celebration of life" in part because I couldn't pick which story to tell and thinking about it now I might just have never stopped talking.

I keep thinking about this line from Becoming @duchessgoldblatt.bsky.social "If you’ve ever wondered what the right thing is to say to someone who’s grieving a death, I think this is it: Tell me all about your dear one." Because yes, all I want to do is keep thinking about him and telling stories.

If you work for a book publisher that has introduced AI at any point in the publishing process, I'm working on a story and would like you speak with you, on-record or off-. Same goes if you're an author and you've witnessed your publisher using AI at any point in the publishing process.

My dad was a legend in his very small niche industry but even when his wife finally agrees to publish the obituary we worked very hard on, it's not going to be published with any prestige. But maybe some young sales rep will adapt his guidebooks and keep them going.

There was a store in Providence RI when I was in college (late '90s) that was three stories -- bike shop on the ground floor, head shop above that, video rental above that. It was perfect. We had a routine of renting a movie that only one of us had seen, which is how I saw Cabinet of Dr Calligari

When we hate on these disgusting immoral evil billionaires it’s bc just look at everything Dolly did. They could be doing that. They could just be helping people and every day they choose not to help people. They choose to harm. And when they die, we’ll dance and laugh and be thankful they’re gone.

Do I know anyone who is very good at forging handwriting? This is for artistic purposes not financial or legal, and I can pay. Because it turns out that while I can do a passable rendition of my mom's signature, I can't do my dad's handwriting AT ALL even with tracing paper.
