Because it's important to keep up with different perspectives, I visit the Drudge Report. Ignoring any Overton Window discussions for the moment, I have to call out the unmistakable influence of @rob-sheridan.com and his visual concepts of corruption and discomfort, all over the site at this moment.

Anytime you feel weird about selling your art, don't forget that the money is out there, and people want to spend it. And if you can convince someone to pay you for something you created in lieu of paying for a repeat viewing of a Disney movie, you're doing good work.

There were more men in a single documented gang rape at one school than the number of competitive trans athletes nationally. But I’ve heard a lot more politicians being asked about protecting girls from one of these scenarios and not another… I’ll let you guess which is which.

Dude starts a thread on ETS about a NIN data set he made for using with LLMs, got attacked over it, and then in a private message to me complaining about that, brought up that Obama was responsible for the bank bailouts and didn't get punished for it. AI psychosis comes in so many weird flavors.

For years now, my coffee intake amounts to one Areopressed cup in the morning. I used to think caffeine didn't affect me, until I went a few months mostly drinking water. My sleep got better and the headaches went away. Man do I miss having coffee drinks in the evening though. It tastes so good!

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

This quote from Jean-Paul Sartre was about antisemites, but good God does it also apply to the anti-trans witch hunt crowd.
Jean-Paul Sartre quote: "Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

I sometimes wonder who will be around in the future to analyze the confluence of social media and mental illness. The way schizophrenics found a community of sorts around Gang Stalking, or the ability to grow a global audience from rantings that otherwise got you kicked out of social settings IRL.

The latest wave of media layoffs is extremely disheartening, but will keep happening while the executive class is in control of media. While we give power to execs and creators from wealthy backgrounds, information will always be something to drive revenue and not community utility.

Let me tell you a story about how top-end menswear retail transformed over the last hundred years. 🧵
Fiorinamarietta on Threads writes: "The death of department stores as an EXPERIENCE needs to be studied. You used to be able to buy a dress, have lunch, get your hair done, smell every perfume in existence and leave carrying beautifully wrapped boxes. Shopping used to be an event."

A fairly obscure band I'm super into is re-releasing their small 25-year-old catalog and remastering it along the way. I'm excited about this, except the first album they've put out is remixed, not just remastered - and it sounds objectively worse. They've sucked the bass out and added saturation

I'm no genius, but one of the more demoralizing things about being in my 20s through the early 2000s was yelling and making noise about how the government was very obviously doing bad things; watching national media downplay the protests and the opposition, then seeing it all play out badly anyway.

When I say that Meta doesn't seem particularly motivated to take these videos down, I really mean it:
from futurism:

> The company removed the majority of the videos we flagged to its press team, but left others online. The videos it opted not to remove included one depicting a young girl shut in a chest freezer, another showing a boy discarded in a trash can where he is seen gnawing on bones, and another of a girl in a classroom environment being forced to eat garbage.

Heard a car alarm go off, and when I saw the guy slip out and go for a second car, my instinct was to yell instead of call 911. Maybe I should have called the cops first, but maybe I stopped more damage and theft than if I waited the ten minutes it took for the police to get here.
