Conservatives are the biggest gatekeepers when it comes to housing supply and affordability in Canada, as I wrote three years ago. Danielle Smith and the UCP just proved my point, again. www.nationalobserver.com/2023/06/12/o...

Are Poilievre’s conservative allies the real gatekeepers?
Pierre Poilievre likes to rail against "gatekeepers" and the role they play in Canada's ultra-high housing costs — and he has a point. It's one he should bring up with the conservative politicians who...

All I see in their image is a bunch of families who get to live in a nice neighborhood, and an owner that, if unhappy, can make bank moving to some sprawling area of single family homes, aka the vast majority of urban land in Calgary. Feds should smack down this anti-growth tomfoolery.

Nice separation of modes in Bolzano, Italy. If someone ever gets annoyed at bike passing them quickly on a MUP, it's because your city has made you squabble over the scraps of public space.

Canada wants more trade with Europe. Start with housing
A well-crafted deal with the EU could also lower the cost of building a home in Canada, while opening new markets for suppliers and manufacturers of construction materials.

In @thestar.com I write about how to reimagine & continue Ford's very Trumpy, absurd & ridiculous bike lane war: don't feel lonely (there's more cyclists everyday); protests will grow (note to engineering firms & drivers); it's a culture war (facts, science & good faith don't matter). Let's go.

Sejong is a visually repetitive, car-centric master-planned city created in an attempt to relieve pressures on Seoul, the cultural+economic hub where people continue to want to live, reflected in prices.
