Breakups hurt, upend our lives, and change how we relate to each other but have been curiously neglected by philosophers. Our workshop next month aims to look closer at this often messy part of life. Here is the fantastic line up.

Excited that this is now out! I offer child-centred account of the value of "company-keeping" relationships between children and adults (e.g., fun aunties, visiting grandparents, friendly neighbours), highlighting how they can promote independent agency and mitigate undue shame in children

This was fun to record! We discuss Murdoch's early 1950s contributions to the philosophy of mind, Gilbert Ryle, and themes of privacy, interiority, "the real", and individuality in her work.

I miss the good old days when taking a sick day just meant getting someone to cover my shift at the restaurant. There's no one to cover my shift at the philosophy factory.

Have philosophers written about fun? Not pleasure, play, or humour-- but having fun, finding fun, doing things just for fun. My search only turned up 2 sources (McKee, Chakrabarti) #philsky

Philosophers are sommeliers of language. I spend so much of my days mulling over words, taste-testing synonyms, assessing pairings of concepts and qualifying phrases, etc. (Collingwood was right that philosophical clarity is served when we "go to school with the poets").
