Sadly, they had two others that didn't make it. I took the nest box down today to clean it out and there were two dead chicks, almost fully fledged. Died of thirst, I expect, in the very hot weather. A lack of juicy grubs this year probably did for them 😢

I electrocuted BBC's John Simpson on the roof of a hotel in Moscow. We had left the headphones outside in the rain and he got a small static shock when he put them on to file a piece to Radio News. Just enough to make him jump, swear and throw them to the ground, but no harm done, thankfully.
