It's my Dad's birthday, but it's also the two year anniversary of "Gotcha" day for these two babies and I'm pretty sure given my Dad's distaste for social media he'd be happy that I'm using it to celebrate Bender and Leela rather than him.

I love that Murakami seems to be this sort of guy drunk or sober. For better or (probably) worse, his past interview with a certain obnoxious pundit where he sang part of "Strokin'" by Clarence Carter has made me listen to it a potentially concerning number of times.

The White Sox *might* advance in a playoff series for the first time in over 20 years and if it happens tonight, I'll likely be sitting in traffic with my uncle (who's a Cubs fan) on the way to see my cousin play D-III college soccer in the rain. That's my choice, but the timing could be better.

In 2013, some FSU fans (sadly even me) engaged in magical thinking that the investigation was legit so that we didn't have to think about rooting for somebody who did that/winning a tainted Nat'l title. I wish I'd thought about it differently then & I'm glad this conversation is still happening now.

The White Sox haven't had longer than a 5 game winning streak or 4 game losing streak all year. Kinda explains how September has gone. "Not too high, not too low" is not bad for a long season, but sometimes it means series wins rather than sweeps & not taking advantage of nights like tonight.

This is generally a correct take for any sports injuries. I'm a middle-aged man who has been sore for days due to overexerting myself while cleaning the house and developed a serious neck injury from just existing, a lot of people my age or older who want to talk 🗑️ are in even worse shape.

Sean Burke had a quality start today. It was the first time any White Sox pitcher has gone 6 innings since he did August 21st and the first time any Sox pitcher has had a quality start since Anthony Kay did August 20th. Would be pretty nice to get a few more of them over the next week...

Since B-R doesn't instantly update, a caveat here is I had to do the math myself, but Brayan Rocchio now has a .720 OPS against the White Sox, but it feels like twice that, like he's Josh Naylor & Jose Ramirez combined since he's now devastatingly walked off the Sox twice. Brutal.

Only really relevant to the handful of other White Sox/Fulham fans on the planet. The Sox have lost 4 in a row and Fulham played well in earning a point away at Anfield v. a more talented Liverpool.

Obvs hope the White Sox make a deep postseason run, but that hope is fading. Regardless, I hope the Brewers are in the World Series. If the Sox get knocked out early (or you know, don't make it), I'd like the Jays in the AL on principle but beyond Cease & their bullpen they have no juice rn.

Something I think about often is how after 9/11 we had a chance to make this world better and we didn't. We chose to make everything immeasurably worse, not just for others but for ourselves as well. If cutting off your nose to spite your face isn't the American spirit, then I don't know what is.

Would have preferred not to have to share this cursed image, but the White Sox made me do it by getting swept by the Pirates. The Pirates are a decent team with good pitching, but assuming the Sox don't pull a 2003 or 2006 or 2010 or 2012 and *actually make* the playoffs they'll face much better.

When Mune signed I thought his ceiling was 2025 Kyle Schwarber and his floor was 2011 Adam Dunn. I didn't expect both in the same season... I know he could still bust out of this slump (like Tristan Peters) did and I hope he does and makes this a freezing cold take.
