Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Not the healthiest looking Hummingbird Hawkmoth but nice to see one perched, warming up before it starts to feed. #teammoth 060
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Well the clouds had other ideas for the solar eclipse today. Instead we have both a lunar and solar eclipse. 020

Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Is that "Oh sweet-Canada-Canada" in the background? Beautiful Warbler backed by a beautiful White-throated Sparrow. 000
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 07/07/2026There was plenty to see at Lower Wood Nature Reserve yesterday. Many Silver-washed Fritillary and some Purple Hairstreak butterflies, although these stayed mainly high in the Oak tree canopy. @savebutterflies.bsky.social @britishdragonflies.bsky.social 030
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 04/07/2026Several Clouded Yellow butterflies were very active today East side of North Lake at #ripplepits. Thanks to @andywarr.bsky.social for the heads up. @savebutterflies.bsky.social 060
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 23/06/2026Always great fun to watch. This male Pileated Woodpecker was in Fish Creek, Calgary, Canada. The drumming heard at the end was his partner. #birdsoftheworld 0264
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 24/05/2026Had a very enjoyable day at Compton Downs, North Dorset today. Saw my first Glanville Fritillary along with Marsh Fritillary, Dingy Skipper, Adonis Blue. Twelve species in all. Yellowhammer and Cornbunting were also in good voice. @ukbutterflies.bsky.social #butterflies 020
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 23/05/2026What can you do when you're favourite wader or "shorebird" turns up in the next county? A short twitch to see the stunning Spotted Sandpiper at Earlswood Lakes, Warwickshire - just had to be done. Looks so small alongside the basking Mallard. #ukbirding 030
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 08/04/2026It would be rude not to go and see this beautiful female Hooded Merganser at Alvecott Pools, Warwickshire. Smaller than you might think, very noticeable when the Canada Goose steams past. #ukbirding #warksbirding 050
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 11/03/2026Hi Andy. One of the long faces who met you earlier today. Did you spot any Wheatears? 100

Formerly considered a subspecies of the Southern Grey Shrike this Canary Islands Grey Shrike "koenigi" is slightly smaller, darker and with a smaller white supercilium than the North European "excubitor" Great Grey Shrike subspecies. 010

Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 28/09/2025This is the bird that I saw earlier from the same hide Brian. I think this is a juvenile Little Bittern. I made the assumption, erroneously, that it was the same bird that had relocated. 😆 110

Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 14/09/2025The hire car in Cyprus was ok but the Cyprus Wheatear seems to like it. A convenient perch to search the dirt bank for tasty morsels. #birdsoftheworld 0123
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 13/09/2025A juvenile Red-backed Shrike eyes up it's next meal (out of focus red Dragonfly). Agia Vavara, Cyprus September 2025 #birdsoftheworld 010014
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 09/07/2025Had a great time at Prestbury Hill and Daneway Banks today. At this time of year the birding goes quiet but butterflies take to the air. Many Chalkhill Blue, Small Blue and Silver-washed Fritillaries at Prestbury. No Large Blues at Daneway. @ukbutterflies.bsky.social 070
Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 20/06/2025And there's me thinking they like sunny, warm conditions! Very early too. On which fells did you see the colony, if I may ask? 100

Lee @leeworth8.bsky.social · 05/05/2025Let me guess - Ortolan and Rüppell's. A Semi-collared was quite a find. Not seen one in two visits. 100
