hits her with the gachafication beam #rkgk
drawing of regular velma (left) and gachafied version (right)

gachafied version is wearing an orange-yellow-white colorblock top with cutouts on the chest and shoulders, and an asymmetrical wrap-around pleated skirt. she is carrying a polearm that resembles a long magnifying glass

i love watching youtube videos about general aviation accidents because 99% of them are rich people who have no business flying a plane getting themselves and possibly their families killed. i think the airplanes are looking out for us

she looks like an oil painting. she looks like a clown. she looks like a crunchy yoga instructor. her expression reaches for so much, and yet her eyes say nothing at all. the lighting is good also.

i really can’t bring myself to care about AI anthropomorphism debates. “is AI thinking?” i don’t know. is a calculator calculating? questions for the philosophers. what’s important is that we put sam altman in prison.

The U.S. AI industry is being run by a batshit rationalist sex cult, and no, I am not being hyperbolic - they’re genuinely Like That:
Erin Redwing
@realizingerin
I went to an rationalist/EA Al doomer event last night with the goal of meeting someone who could calmly explain to me the argument for how they get to the conclusion that Al will kill everyone.
Because these are rationalists, I expected to find people who could lay out a serious extinction pathway, walk through the assumptions and intermediate steps, identify choke points where negative pathways could potentially be regulated, and entertain disagreement about where their assumptions might break down.
My experience was the exact opposite.
The people I spoke to seemed psychologically unable to entertain the possibility that their conclusion (that Al literally kills everyone, which was a point that many would not even budge on) might be wrong.
Their most extreme conclusion was treated as an axiom.
I had multiple people walk out of conversations with me when I questioned their inevitable extinction premise.
At one point during a panel, the moderator asked everyone in the audience who was still skeptical of Al doom to raise their hands. About half the room did. He then told all of the skeptics to leave the panel and go with one of the speakers, who would answer their questions separately. They filtered out all the skeptics, and continued the panel only with the subset who accepted their extreme position.
I genuinely felt like a heretic just for questioning whether superintelligent Al inevitably leads to the extinction of humanity, or entertaining the possibility that the future might actually turn out well.
That does not mean Al safety is fake. Obviously there are serious questions about rapidly advancing Al systems and what happens as they become much more capable. Those are exactly the conversations I went there hoping to have.
But what I encountered was an apocalyptic death cult. These people are not rational. They are deeply afraid, they reinforce that fear in one another, and they have become so emotionally committed to apocalypse

I really thought the social anxiety was something that would go away with time and maturity, but I'm in my 30s now and that hasn't happened yet. Still can't walk into a bar by myself. Still have nightmares before a performance review at work. Still freeze up when a stranger talks to me on the street

The Washington Post opinion section is an elaborate experiment to find the least compelling angle on everything
As the weather cools and the leaves change color, take in the beauty of Earth while getting some exercise if you're able. Just don't be under the illusion that you're rebelling against modernity. Hiking is fun only because of the industrial revolution.

Yo. This is the union calling for a boycott. Here in America people like to say "Well I was already boycotting Starbucks!" No you were not. You were just choosing not to buy their stuff. That is not a boycott. A boycott is an organized, collective activity. "I" don't boycott: we do.

might be relevant to add, a lot of people are under the impression that Starbucks is on the BDS list, but it never has been. better to support a unionized store!!
