I say this as someone who reads in the same genre/spheres as DCC (and has read the first book): there is literally no reason to believe that the people who enjoy DCC have any standard of quality, and no reason to believe that they wouldn’t like any stylistically similar slop out in front of them

interacting with a personal social media account really seems like it’s best treated as talking with a person, not least because saying “it’s a [minority] person” would hopefully give some people pause where they wouldn’t otherwise

it does seem like referring to a personal social media account as an “account” does seem like pretty correlated with this kind of behaviour. obviously it’s different with an organization, but like, in this case it is just talking about a personal social media, instead of a depersonalized “account”

I mean, I don't think it's that weird if you compare it to like, the arts. In both, there's plenty of technical skill required, but I don't trust someone who is exclusively formally educated and nothing else to be any good (possibly in SE it's more because there isn't much Good education but idk).

I think Java has too much baggage from the past to make their new APIs nice to use, because the need for compatibility with language features that were not designed with these use cases in mind really limits what’s possible

I will say that for all the niceties of the stream API, the rules on checked exceptions and closure constness for lambdas make it a lot harder to use them than I would like It kind of feels like what I imagine people who don’t like Rust feel about the borrow tracker

Weird how much I can relate with a sentient magic sword. I think I am in the best position I have ever been in to get Weapons and Wielders, and also Dawn is written in a way that I can relate to more in Flowbreaker than previous novels
