1. The PNSO Lurdusaurus Iguanodonts are my favorite dinosaur clade and the Elrhaz formation is exciting. At first the color scheme seems the same ol PNSO brown but the patterning is striking. I love the low body and huge hands and long neck. A reminder that dinosaurs were weird and different!
A model Lurdusaurus is posed next to some Kaiyodo birds and the safari ltd Leptoceratops. The Lurdusaurus has a long neck, heavy, powerful limbs (including thumb spikes), and a low, thickly built torso.

2. The Safari Ltd. Megalosaurus. Dinotoycollector says this is 2024, but my in-stock alert arrived Jan. 2025. Technically this is a marvel of balance, its body slightly twisting to the side, the tail drooping lower but not quite hitting the ground. It outdoes other therapod models at 1/2 the price.
A toy Megalosaurus rests on fabric. This therapod dinosaur is roaring, mouth open, one leg planted while the other pushes off. The topside is a muddy green, the bottom grey with a red breast.

3. The Haolonggood Brontosaurus This figure was such a pleasant surprise. The paintjob and detailwork is leaps and bounds from their Apatosaurus, the pose is lively, it comes with a base (albeit one that is reused for the Einiosaurus), and it was so affordable.
A Brontosaurus figure stands on a rocky base next to some other toys. Its head is slightly raised, but it appears at ease. The figure's neck has a blue tinge and the body is more orange, but a dark brown pattern runs from head to tail.

4. The CollectA Jaekelopterus It is rare to get prehistoric invertebrates figures of any type, much less Eurypterids. I love that this figure is depicted predating an armored fish, which illustrates how menacing they must have been.
A jaekelopterus toy (a prehistoric sea scorpion) has captured a primitive fish in its pincers. It is depicted in a bronze color with patches of green moss on its segmented back, and dull black eyes.

5. The PNSO Caudipteryx This is a beautifully sculpted and painted figure, and it is heartening to see more attention to smaller dinosaurs from the top Chinese company. It is a menace on the shelves, though, and the provided stand does not support it in any way.
A Caudipteryx figure stands precariously on a table. Its wings and tail have a black-and-white alternating pattern with a gradual fade on the whiter portions. Its head is lifted and turned to the side as if scanning the environment.

6. The Rebor Beelzebufo I expected a lot of good figures to come based on Prehistoric Planet, but I did not expect my favorite thus far to be a frog. much less an action figure. My model's leg joints are a little loose, but it's a miracle that this figure even exists.
A Beelzebufo action figure is held in a hand. It is about the same size as the hand and resembles pac-man frogs. The jaw, arms, and legs are articulated. This frog is posed with its mouth open; the figure is painted so that its throat and tongue glisten.

7. The Eofauna Mastodon Eofauna is still number one when it comes to proboscideans, and they had two great ones this year. I slightly prefer the mastodon as a figure (left) due to the medium-fuzzy texture and the less familiar proportions. The Ankylosaurus is great too.
Figures of a mastodon, a Colombian mammoth, and an Ankylosaurus are arranged on a table. The mastodon has grey short fur, a more log-like body, trunks that curve out, up, and in, and a long trunk. It was sculpted as if getting ready to charge.

8. The Creative Beast/Eons 1/18 Woolly Mammoth I continue to have technical bending/posing issues with all the giant-class creative beast releases, but it is so much fun to hold, and the details and articulation help me better understand it as a living creature. I wish it had the trunk mittens!
An adult and baby woolly mammoth action figure stand on a coffee table. The adult's left foot is raised as if taking a step, and the trunk has swung up as if the creature is bellowing.

9. The PNSO Dinocephalus I love the attention PNSO paid to Triassic marine reptiles this year, and the oddity of dinocephalus edges it out over the various ichthyosaurs they also released. I have heard some feel the neck is not accurately proportioned, but having this model makes a future likelier
A dinocephalus model rests on a riser with other marine reptile models. It features a long neck, a gaping mouth, and big paw-like feet.

10. The Bandai Citipati. Oviraptorids are one of my favorite clades, and this miniature has a dynamic pose, plus a mystery Mesozoic mammal on the base, trying to get an egg.
The Bandai Citipati, a small dinosaur figure on a stand. It balances on one foot, raising its winged arms in surprise as a small mammal on the base tries to make off with an egg.

Today's figure of the day is a dinogorgon from Schleich! It is cool to think of these weird predators as our ancestors.

Today's figure of the day is Huayangosaurus, made by Haolonggood. This figure is teeny tiny at 1/35 scale, and the paint job has a few stains from an overenthusiastic wash. Another in my small but growing collection from the Shaximiao formation.
A Huayangosaurus figure stands on a box. This stegosaurian dinosaur is depicted with shoulder spikes as well as 16 rows of plates on its back. The plates are not as wide as those of Stegosaurus. The tail (often called a thagomizer) has four spikes on it. The Huayangosaurus is tilting its neck down as if to feed on low vegetation.

Today's figure of the day is Nemicolopterus, an indeterminate species of pterosaur from China. Is it a juvenile or adult? We aren't sure because some pterosaurs had fused bones earlier in their development. This little figure used to be very rare, but then PNSO made another run.
A nemicolopterus figure sits on a box. This pterosaur model has no head crest but a long head (as long as the body) and short tail. It is posed with all four limbs touching the ground, the wings folded back, and head inclined.

Todays's figure of the day is Lythronax, from Creative Beast! This was a midsized Tyrannosaurid that probably loved to eat Diabloceratops. Luckily, Creative Beast also made some Diabloceratops babies so you can recreate that spectacle at home.
A Lythronax action figure stands on a box. This tyrannosaurid dinosaur has a large head and prominent jaw, small preorbital horns, and small two-fingered arms. This dinosaur was painted with a sandy camouflage suitable for brush, which may not match the wet seasonal environment of the Wahweap formation.

Today's figure of the day is a Sinraptor from Vitae. I can't get this toy to stand properly and Vitae made a lot of choices that i would not have. It is frankly too textured, or maybe textured without reason. But i love the Shaximiao formation and try to pick up whatever i can from it.
A figure of Sinraptor is propped up against a box. This therapod dinosaur is depicted with short, three-clawed hands, small dorsal spines, no lips, and an overall weathered appearance. One leg is planted while the other trails behind. The tail sways in an s-curve.

Today's figure of the day is this Tethyshadros pair from Wild Past! The main appeal is the miniature size, fitting for an island dwarf.
A pair of Tethyshadros sit on a box. This ornithiscian dinosaur was an island dwarf but otherwise has a typical hadrosaur body plan. One sits with forelimbs spread in front, back limbs sprawled to one side. The other stands on hind limbs, lifting its head to bellow.

it's been a minute since i posted a figure of the day. Here is a Mastodonsaurus, a Triassic temnospondyl that grew to 20 feet. Manufacturer is Bullyland. This is a highly coveted figure in my little community. I like it because I think it looks like hypnotoad.
A figure of a Mastodonsaurus sits on a box. This amphibian-like creature has four limbs, a thick tail, and a large mouth. Bumps on its head indicate where the skull has holes to make room for the gigantic tusks in its lower jaw. The head is marked with several bulbous patches to indicate sensory organs.

Today's figure is Helicoprion from PNSO. Though similar to a shark in reconstruction, this is a chimera fish. Most of the body is pure guesswork because cartilage is not preserved. But those saw-like teeth are found all over the world.
