In 2004, I interviewed for a teaching position. The principal asked me how many kids I had. I answered. He asked if I was planning to have more —said he couldn’t afford to have another teacher out on maternity leave. This is why women need protections, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Glad to see not all US companies are folding DEI plans. Unconscious bias is still real and many management decisions are impacted by it. So having checks and balances to mitigate against this bias is the only way to have balanced workforces that are fair to all employees.

Agreed. Very sad. See bbc article about harassment and bullying at McD’s UK. I would have thought that with these types of culture issues a more inclusive culture would be higher up McDs agenda. Happy employees lead to happy customers, so inclusive best practices are good for business.
