One of the reasons that AA fails is because it deals with AUD by pushing abstinence, admitting powerlessness, & asking for forgiveness for your words & actions. But there is no focus on doing the work to figure out or fix why a person developed AUD as a coping mechanism in the first place.

I'm 3 episodes into Furious & so far the biggest theme is that women pay for men's mistakes, missteps, misdeeds, & indiscretions with their mental health, physical well-being, & sometimes literally their lives. Men are allowed to recover & return but women are forced to bear the emotional labor
