"The hypothesis of the world as the pattern of a single God-particle existing and self-intersecting back and forth in time and space" 2026, art by me, vector graphics, no genAI

An intricate drawing of a single line swirling in various curves repeating in a six-fold symmetry/hexagonal pattern, going thru all the colors of the spectrum as it does so; the cells between the line are slightly colored in pale luminous tones, with the whole thing having a slight white halo around it; this is all framed over a grey hexagonal background.

Watched an older Religion for Breakfast video about how there were reliquaries for the bones of saints that had a small hole on top and another one on the side so that you could pour oil inside and then collect it after it touched the bones, so you could keep a little flask of Sainted Oil with you.

There's a secret 2nd Earth on the far side of the Sun where all the stuff folks who believe in the Mandela Effect have misremembered is actually true, but oddly, no Mandela Effect truthers are from there. That their faulty memory exactly matches Counter-Earth's reality is just a weird coincidence.

We're in here quibbling about community standards regarding the #nsfw tag while major online advertising networks are out there defining all depictions of fat people regardless of context as "adult content" because their clients don't want their products displayed next to a fat person.

Artists are allowed to make fucked up upsetting art. You are allowed to block them if it bothers or triggers you. You are not allowed to demand that transgressive art never exist. Especially when the artists are marginalized or queer and already have society trying to erase them.

La croisière sans faim -- out Oct 7th! Hunger's Bite will become available in French in physical and eBook on October 7th, wherever you buy your BDs! I'm very happy with this translation, and with how much French comics influenced the book, it delights me that it'll now be more accessible there!

Among manga you haven't mentioned: D. Gray Man and Basilisk; I assume you're already familiar with Witch Hat Atelier and with the rest of Tsutomu Nihei's œuvre? In anime I think you've mentioned Mononoke before? I assume you're familiar with Serial Experiments Lain, maybe not Ghost Hound? Inu-Oh?

It's still my hot take that the whole concept of "art" was invented only to segregate the creative endeavors of the idle aristocracy ("art") from those of the working classes ("craft").

I would speculate in those situations they first added it as a mandatory part of gameplay and then it tested so poorly that they added the option to skip as a quick fix, but left it in as an option because they didn't want to throw their work away/it was mandated by the studio

The "Mandela Effect" is of course bullshit, but I think a piece of missing context is that in the pre-Internet era, any time a celebrity or public figure fell out of view for a while, there's inevitably be a rumour they'd died that would become accepted fact because there was no easy way to check.

It's shameful what radio-friendly song lengths have done to the concept of a solo. You're gonna call that a "solo" and it's 18 seconds long? Pal, if you've got an instrumentalist who actually warrants a solo spot, I want to have forgotten what song I'm listening to by the time they're finished.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

I can understand *remasters* where you update things just enough that it works on a modern system and doesn't look awful, but "remakes" are a new game. You're making a new game, from scratch, with a different plot and gameplay. It's not the same game anymore, it's erasure.

No remakes. Treat the original games as art pieces to be preserved and understood in context. The way the games look with more limited technology is not a problem to be fixed.

So for the last couple months, on a whim, I have been making Weird Sticks. The extremely high ceilings of our living room would eat any painting smaller than a Volkswagen Bug, so I got the idea that a sufficiency of six foot sticks might fill that space nicely.

Three boards, about 3.5 inches wide, painted in turquoise and black with random geometric shapes and found objects all over them. They are leaning against a glass case full of skulls, with a deer skull on one side and some more sticks, backlit, on the other.
