They covered “grandparents rights” in the family law portion of bar review for Florida! It was comprehensive but I’ll post it in full: “Grandparents rights in Florida. There are none.“

If anyone knows a lawyer in the Boston area who might be looking for work, is willing to try litigation, and doesn’t mind the absolute lack of prestige and barely adequate compensation of what I do, please send them my way.

Just fyi that @anazun.bsky.social posts non-alt-texted images filled with text that describes horrific crimes against children. So my mutes didn’t work, and honestly shame on the person who RT’d that into my TL

lol I had some unexpected time during the afternoon (client didn’t send info), so I tried a walk-in nail appt but they only had one an hour+ later, so I walked around the plaza for an hour. My only regret is wearing flipflops, but, in my defense, I had come from lunch & wasn’t expecting to walk

I made an effort to reach 200,000 steps for the month despite being sick for several days early on. So I’m still ok for today bc I needed 16k steps today & got them haha

Is there a fancy stationery store in Chicago? I want to get some nice letter-writing paper/envelopes for my husband for a milestone birthday.

A revision to the capacities lol
Strong dog / weak dog meme, titled “My GI tract”
Strong dog: vs. 12 strains of norovirus & moldy carrots
Weak dog: vs. 1 McDonald’s French fry

whoops, ate possibly moldy carrots. This is what I get for (1) bypassing the pretzels; (2) trusting the expiration date that’s 11 days in the future 😑. You know who doesn’t mold despite perfect food safety on my end, PRETZELS.

But also, i don’t preferentially choose chocolate. Sour Patch Kids are my fav candy ever. occasionally I’ve sought out chocolate but it’s not my default

if the point is to have a cookie with STUFF in it, it should have a lot of it! That sounds delicious!

My friend saw me walking carefully in heels a couple weeks ago & was like ”👀”, and I’m like, “I promise I actually can walk in heels, I just forgot to tape the toe that healed in the Clinton administration LOL”

Also had the idea to use Moleskin to line the side where I’d broken my pinkie toe in middle school, and, therefore, it sticks out like half a millimeter, & that’s enough to hit painfully in every pair of heels I’ve ever worn (fabric bandaid solves problem)… OMG magical.

Lawyer in Beta dot com @lawyerinbeta.com · 12h
Used an old butter knife & scraped the degrading polyurethane lining from the “new to me, but also 15 years old even though unworn and NWB” shoes, added Moleskin in problematic places including the insole of one side, and put in heel pads. OMG, I can wear heels!!!

Had you used alt text, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. you’d be posting what you want to post, and that’s fine!, and I would be not-seeing what I have specifically set up filters to not-see.

The image you posted is filled with text. I do not want to see many of the words that are in the text, so I have muted those words. your post got reposted into my timeline by someone I follow. because you did not use BlueSky’s alt text feature, I had to see details of horrific crimes.

lol like every house in my former neighborhood had those! They originally had weird screened-in porches that were NOT of the same build quality as the rest of the house… subsequent owners of my house tore out the sketchy enclosed porch & added the den addition. Def preferable!

Oh, I hear ya. OH, DO I EVER HEAR YOU. I did like when one of my former judges called out Plaintiff’s counsel for “FINAL JUGDMENT” in the document heading, bc buddy, you’re foreclosing on a family’s home, you can look up how to make Word not ignore all caps in spellcheck

My dad’s house was like the fanciest version of the ones in his new construction neighborhood, but none were quite like his layout… then he moved, and his new neighborhood bestie LIVED IN THE EXACT SAME MODEL HOUSE (but with like 3 additions).

Lawyer in Beta dot com @lawyerinbeta.com · 20h
The house I grew up in was unique in my area! My next door neighbors’ houses had different window positions, or a slightly different bedroom layout. Like the one had more steps after the landing! & a bigger bathroom (Yes only 1 bathroom 😅), & houses across the street were totally different

maybe I’ll look at my own property records & find the original developer (lol there were many in quick succession), then do an Official Records search to find other communities they started, then look at Google Maps street view? Open to ideas tho! Lmk what I missed

brainstorming about how I could find listings for other houses w/ same model as mine, in other subdivisions. just so curious about how other ppl use their space! Like, I’ve been to ppl’s houses in different cities here that look VERY similar. It’s likely the same developers bc similar build dates

Well WE here on the pedantic scolds website are legitimately happy with you for catching that typo. also I personally am a big fan of “fake it til you make it,” and ensuring lack of typos goes a long way towards that goal

So! there is an obscure way to create spell check “exclusions”! like, words that are not-incorrect, but they are in context. I use them to fix Word’s breaking its own dictionary, but also could add stuff like “trail court” and “untied states” etc…

Slightly delayed in posting this but if you’re in Los Angeles, go see “The Kitchen and its Discontents” at LACMA! I wrote about some of its treasures like this prototype kitchen designed by Charlotte Perriand and Le Corbusier for the T List 🫕 www.nytimes.com/2026/09/24/t...

There are only 5 houses w/my floorplan. It’s fun to Zillow scope & see what they did with theirs. Seems all the others have an extra bedroom, but they don’t fully cut down the foyer & living room

Lawyer in Beta dot com @lawyerinbeta.com · 30/09/2026
I found another house w/ my floorplan in my neighborhood! It has an extra bedroom bc they enclosed the front foyer area instead of leaving it 2-stories like in mine. Anyway, the old listing from 2013 is a shitshow, no wonder it didn’t sell, that’s on them for not staging it at ALL

I will always remember the depo exchg of the manager who denied plt’s ADA accomms, & plt’s atty made him really defensive and he admitted that “it’s not even that big a task!”—& the atty came back with “so then it should be easy to find someone else to do it, right?” 💀

My stepmom loved Parmesan rinds as a kid, & they used to be a fun cheap treat bc they are literally trash! …And now The Kids These Days have decided they’re a delicacy, so now it’s just cheese prices 😑

The guy is such a creep. (I had a dislike of most Dems from the Obama era, since I was on the other side at the time, and I've un-hated all of them EXCEPT this guy. Because everything new I read about him is somehow worse than the last thing I read about him.)

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward
