Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

Or from THIS president, anyway. A BENEVOLENT dictatorship might not be so bad, given what recent years have demonstrated about the wishes of the people.

Trump corrupted America's most innovative institution, the National Science Foundation, by stealing $1.4B mandated by Congress for research. 🧪 🧵

Does it even matter? Are the priorities of the 35-year-old stalker any worse than those of the president she is stalking? And does this president deserve a security clearance, given that whatever facts he learns or makes go straight to insider trading and/or to betraying Ukraine and South Korea?

One reason vote-by-mail remains under attack by Republicans is because of who it helps turn out.
Two New York Times charts on Colorado's all-mail voting, from research by Adam Bonica, Jacob Grumbach, Charlotte Hill, and Hakeem Jefferson.

Top chart, "Which Coloradans benefited most from all-mail voting," shows the difference between actual and projected turnout in Colorado's 2018 election. By race: African-American voters gained about 11 percentage points, Asian about 9, Latino about 8, white about 7.5. By education: less than a high school diploma about 10 points, high school diploma, some college, and bachelor's degree about 9 each, graduate degree about 7. By household wealth: $0 to $5k gained about 11 points, with gains shrinking as wealth rises to about 6 points for households over $500k.

Bottom chart, "Mailing every Coloradan a ballot increased voting across all age groups," plots actual 2018 turnout against projected turnout without all-mail voting, by age from under 30 to 90. Actual turnout is higher at every age. The gap is widest for the youngest voters, roughly 14 points near age 30, and narrows to about 5 points for voters in their 70s and 80s. Generations labeled Millennials, Gen X, Boomers, Silent Generation.

If nazification is part of human nature (as the rise of MAGA seems to have shown), then how could denazification work for more than a generation or two? A light version: in Star Wars, the son of the great heros Hans Solo and Princess Leia, Kylo Ren, turns to the evil side.

Yes, there are people who believe in race science and who end up being anti-vaccine but this guy is not one of them. He is very much pro race science and ALSO very much pro vaccine. He ridicules MAGA for being anti vaccine. He is very pro science (but believes that only white people can do science).

Actually, after reading more of his posts, I am now sure he was being sarcastic about vaccines. He is anti-left, yes, but he also thinks that MAGA is very stupid. Unfortunately, he is probably laughing at our taking his anti-vaccine post instead of realizing it was sarcastic.

I appreciate this interesting information. However, I do not believe that "protecting women's spaces" need always be a whitewashing euphemism. Regardless of JKR's views, II believe one can support "protecting women's spaces" without the addition of genocidal or eugenicist points of view.

I watched the 1st half, and from that formed my opinion that it was guilt by association. I saw quotes and actions by the other people, but not JKR. if you think I will find quotes and actions by JKR that are about OTHER than restricting spaces for women to cis-women, I will watch the 2nd half too.

JKR supports preserving women-only spaces. Or, if you like, cis-women-only spaces. Even if you oppose this, it cannot be described simply as "anti-trans". Try mapping it onto black-white. White-people-only? White supremacy. Black-people-only? a necessary refuge. White people who transition to black?

But ... the vast majority of ALL people just do what's expected of them at the time, are not heroic, etc. Many people who seem perfectly well-meaning today would have been fine with being slave owners in the past. Very few oppose something their own current peer group supports.

Everyone is missing Tyler’s secondary point, which is that woke/progressive university liberals care a lot about race and gender but little or not about class (unionization, adjunct professors).

Every position gets you some voters and loses you some voters (to the extent that anyone cares). It's not possible to tell what would have happened if Biden/Harris had had a different position on Israel. Yes, they lost the election, but you cannot know how the vote WOULD have gone otherwise.
