These Clarijs panniers and shopper bags are so well made and classy. The panniers stay on our bikes 24/7 (you never know when you need to carry more stuff!) but we can bring the shopper bags into the store with us, load groceries in, then we get back to our bikes we plop them right in.

Any day where @nissamitchell.com and I get to run errands on our Dutch bikes is a good day. Today included a ride to Modern Times for lunch and a quick stop at the Co Op to get groceries for a dinner party with friends (Nissa cooks for friends every Thursday).

Similar vibes a couple hours later at school pick up time. Would be *so cool* if Minneapolis did more to keep drivers from using the small amount of space we’ve set aside to keep people on bikes/scooters/wheelchairs safe from drivers.

If it fits, I sits… in the painted bikelane bc paint isn’t enough to keep drivers from illegally and unsafely prioritizing their convenience over others’ safety again and again and again. (Zoom in to see a 2nd driver doing the same just a lil further down the block.)

Worry about others? Yes of course. I did that even when I cycled, both moto and pedal. You have to do that even as a pedestrian. Road use us a cooperative thing.
I think it works best in a society with a good sense of community. IMHO the Brits are better than us Aussies.

When I first started using a bike for transportation I avoided all inclement weather. But over time, I started venturing into riding in the rain (& eventually snow/ice). I slowly figured out what gear keeps me warm & dry (as dry as possible) in what type of rain.

Michels contractors are on my shit list again and again. Both of these are from today. The truck is parked on the sidewalk at the corner of an elementary school at pick up time. Driver was sitting in it, idling the engine. Seems like the city should have consequences for contractors who do this.

Thomas is a great helper for school drop off. And biking with puppies is SUCH a good way to socialize them to the sights/sounds around them. On today’s short (5 block) ride to school Thomas saw 2 big barking dogs, lots of people, an active/loud construction site with a jackhammer + so many smells!

Don’t mind me, just test riding a used fat bike from FB Marketplace in a country-club adjacent neighborhood in Edina where all the homes are $2-$3million but no money for sidewalks. Clearly I fit right in w/ my tshirt, jorts and my 16yo old car I drove here. Got a great price on the bike, though!

It’s important to ride your bike for errands so friends can spot your bike when they park theirs & come find you inside the store. I have no idea what kind of cars any of my friends drive, but I know their bikes! (& searching parking lots for a car is hard compared to finding bikes at 🚲 parking)
