We have the same problem with squirrels dropping young/sappy pinecones from way up in giant Fir trees. They hit the metal roof, car etc and often feels like the little furry bastards are being purposeful with their bombardment.

Too much of Vancouver has seen "Character Gentrification": extreme land value lift in areas where character zoning has excluded new apartments. We need to bring more housing options, incl sub $1m homes, more rental, more alt-ownership (like co-op, land trust) to these n'hoods.

And yes we're channeling a retro futurism vibe with these prototypes. There was a lot of great urbanism at the start of the 1900s (before cars took over) and a lot of that same aesthetic can work well with modern passive house principles, low embodied carbon, and dense single stair urbanism.
