In the late 2000s and early 2010s, I wrote for long-forgotten feminist gaming sites like today's Mothership. (Except there was no Patron so we were all unpaid.) I tried to be more like Aftermath but nobody was ready. I'm glad the audience & outlets are there for leftist games criticism now.

SDOT has been installing new stop signs and it is great whether I'm walking, biking, or driving. However, there is still a blind intersection at the bottom a hill (racing drivers) one block from a school. What's the best way to request the intersection become a 4-way stop? #Seattle

I loved cycling in my 20s. Had some crashes and close calls that scared me. In my early 40s, I'm just rediscovering how much joy I got from cycling, but I'm so timid out there. At least there are more bike paths now! #Seattle

The remodeled Seattle waterfront coincided with my neighborhood getting a new rapid ride to downtown. My kids love spending time at the waterfront now. Great playground. I don't miss the viaduct, although my dad and I got to walk before he passed away.

This was my experience with the prevailing dialog around SPED. It was everywhere and it was gross.

"So in 2022, recommits to a joint special education task force with members from the Seattle Education Association, special education central office staff, and family representatives to plan for the transition to more inclusive practices throughout the system.

That was four years ago, and now we're talking like that never happened.

and that's really frustrating and sad and what was really, really hard was to see the same weaponization and othering of students with disabilities being used for leverage in a bargaining that's about adult working conditions.

It is so hurtful for, and the emails that we got about people concerned with special education, those were not parents of children in those programs.

They were parents who are afraid of those children and teachers who are afraid of those children and parents like me who have those children and know that you don't want us there.

That is rough.

For the last 2 years, I got a free bus pass thru Seattle Preschool Program. Now that my kids are all in elementary school, I miss that bus pass. I notice I'm taking fewer short/neighborhood bus trips because I don't want to spend the $3. Mostly bussing downtown. Can we make transit free? #Seattle

I only started attending #PAXWest five years ago. One thing that struck me is they seemed to favor content creators more than other cons I'd attended. However, the last few years seem to have improved in terms of making space for other types of voices. Just my observation from my limited perspective

Xena Con is postponed because Lucy Lawless had to cancel. I'm glad my FOMO didn't win (I hadn't booked tickets). This would have only been the second con I missed since I started going in 2012. I didn't go to the covid convention that was at LAX.
