There's actually a saliva test too now. It's not available everywhere, but you know. Ask your doctor etc.

The Lorax. I watched a lot of scary stuff as a kid and was largely unaffected by it, tbh, but the Lorax deeply unnerved me.

CNN making this sound more mysterious than it is. It was Yersinia pestis, the plague, the researcher died because she inhaled it into her lungs and developed pneumonic plague, there is no danger but to those directly exposed in the lab. Fear-mongering in the time of global terror is a sick choice.

Okay, it's not exactly NICE, but old people who complain about other old people are kinda hilarious. My old bus driver who retired was an older lady and sometimes she'll fill in when the new ones are busy and she absolutely HATES some of the old women who ride the bus XD

Also we went outside to hunt for leaves, and one of the rules was, "Don't run into traffic because then they won't let me do crafts with you guys anymore." One of the kids went, "And you'll get arrested?" Yeah, sure.

I'm going to say this as kindly as I can - you don't know enough about clothing to have this argument if you believe that.

Oh yeah. People who identify as feminists NEVER have biases that affect other women. You know. TERFS. White feminism. Ableism. None of that exists.

Everyone’s gonna memory hole this like they do her racism and antisemitism but this is your regular reminder that Joyce Carol Oates fucking sucks and just because she sometimes makes a funny tweet doesn’t erase how much she fucking sucks.

that clothing was put together by an underpaid worker in a factory overseas under the cheapest circumstances possible. not assembled by a magic factory, but a human quietly exploited and erased an appropriate metaphor, then. AI was trained on the blood of real artists and profits from their absence

"Machine-made clothes," as is meant here, don't exist. Every piece of clothing you've ever worn has been made by many people *using* machines, custom or otherwise. Impressive to cram two different flavors of devaluing human labor into a single tweet.

Funny she says that considering there are no machine-made clothes! Sewing is not an automated craft. Every single garment you've ever put on your body, if there's a seam in it, was made by human hands.

And you think that's somehow more creative? But regardless, being formulaic does not negate human work. Learning that formula is hard, and takes practice and experience. Do you think you could do it? Do you think you could do it consistently 3 times a year?

I just cooked perogies and potstickers one after the other and... like that's an almost identical cooking process, which is so funny to me. Every culture wraps stuff in dough and it's amazing.

I sew VERY casually and people just do not know anything, really, about clothing. I don't even sew clothing, really, but so many people work on your clothing!

Something that has shaken me is that all clothes are hand made. Factory produced clothes employ techniques to sew at scale but human hands pushed every garment individually through a machine. The same way i do when i make clothes. The difference for writing is i'm not reading or writing to a formula

Honestly the clothing stance kinda angers me more XD You are NEVER more than a step or two away from the people who make your clothing.

Laina @lainasparetime.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
That's also not even how clothing works. All clothing is made by people. People work the machines. There are not autonomous clothing machines that exist without human beings guiding them.

I got through all the stapling I had to do with NONE in my fingers. I'll tell you. Staple your fingers one time (IT WAS ONE TIME JUST BECAUSE IT WAS 4 FINGERS DOESN'T MEAN IT WASN'T ONE TIME) and you get real nervous around staplers afterwards.

People get REAL MAD when you say that there is a difference between decoding and comprehending. And I think these are the same people who don't think audiobooks are reading. Because if reading is just decoding, and audiobooks don't have decoding... what are they actually doing?
