I’m not familiar with NY criminal procedure. Isn’t the magistrate judge done with her role in this? Like shouldn’t this be on the way to the trial court? I don’t know what other motions she would hear or orders she would issue, so why would recusal matter

So tired of people complaining about this. Low pay for the office means only the rich and the corrupt can afford to serve. It incentivizes accepting bribes and inappropriate gifts. I’d like to see this number doubled and tied to strong anti-corruption legislation. Better carrot, bigger stick.

They should have been enough, but follow up events ruined it. Avenatti destroyed any effect Daniels’s courage might have had. Mischaracterizing the ruling cut Carroll’s impact. Also, neither of those were people responding to Trump’s suits, which is the case here. IMO, that distinction matters.

As T. hasn’t answered you, I’ll try: Frivolous lawsuits en masse waste resources and are difficult to stop at scale. However, one person filling frivolous lawsuits can be stopped if they keep doing it. It just takes people pushing back. It’s having to catch every minnow vs catching one huge fish.

Sarris is great. Whoever chose the headline needs to do better. The article’s premise is that data use is so ubiquitous that just collecting data no longer confers an advantage. You use analytics or you lose. That isn’t data “dying”. That is data being incorporated into the fabric of the game.
