iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

here are the first couple paragraphs. i wanted to illustrate it more than just the cover but this is the extent of my abilities right now

Tonight was supposed to be just like any other hunt: Cassius, dutiful
bartender, would escort a poor drunkard home. There he would gen-
tly guide his prey to a seat, roll up their sleeve or undo a few buttons,
and put his sharp teeth to a delicate wrist, sometimes a sinewy neck.
He would drink just enough to sate himself and for them not to faint,
tidy up, and leave without a trace. It was supposed to be swift, clean,
and above all, impersonal.

But lately his hunts had changed. His prey is different. This one
is a regular at his bar. This one would notice him, know what he’s
doing, and let him. This one would tell him her troubles, and he’d
listen. This one he’d returned to many nights. And while she wouldn’t
remember any of this—he still must be careful, after all—tonight this
one had told him her name as if she did.

“I go by Bellamy these days. Picked it myself.”

sample. i also made a little collection since this and the last short story are kind of a pair

So he couldn't believe his eyes when he'd seen her wandering the streets of Philadelphia following his note. He had to put up an aloof front when she'd first walked into his speakeasy after he'd lured her there. Yet he could not help but lace their fingers together when she'd flirtatiously laid her hand on his. He could not help but stare when he'd walked in on her getting fitted for dresses. And when she'd put her hand on his shoulder and leaned in to murmur into his ear before their little vampire soiree, he could not help but steal glances at her weaving through the crowd—dancing with anyone but him—the entire evening.

So at the end of the evening when the crowd had grown thin, Cassius felt a bit bold: he'd whispered into her ear to invite her to his bed. He would play her game and not theirs. It was to his surprise then that she'd obliged and showed up at his door later that night. She'd put up no fight, playing right into his hand (or had he played into hers?). Yet he could scarcely believe he was seeing her still, even when she stood right in front of him in nothing but a chemise.

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.

if you happen to use tapas and have ink you'd rather not be lost to the platform whenever it goes, you can send support to creators who have the option available. which would really be appreciated as i have not met the threshold to request a payout yet lmao

I've stepped away for a bit but if you want to stew in their strange queer vampire situationship while I'm gone I'd love to hear your thoughts #webcomicday theclosestthingcomic.neocities.org

Bellamy steps out of a 1910s taxi on the streets of Philly in a dark pinstripe suit and a mismatched fedora.
page punctuated with narration box: "This feels alarmingly still... Human."

Cassius peeks into the room while Bellamy is being fitted with a lacy Edwardian dress, asking, "Daniela, has everything been arranged for tomorrow night?"
Daniela responds, "Yes, of course!" Cassius replies, "I expect nothing less of you. Just wanted to make sure..." As he trails off he notices Bellamy and after a moment, catches himself staring. He excuses himself with, "Excuse me. Carry on."

Bellamy saunters around the bar counter telling Cassius, "You know, I think I'm finally feeling a little peckish." Cassius explains matter-of-factly, "Evenings are the best time to hunt, and drunkards are the easiest prey."
As Bellamy smirks at him with her chin on her hands, he tells her, "Just don't kill anyone this time." She pouts and rolls her eyes.

Bellamy, wearing a cloche and coat for travel, catches up to Cassius, claiming "You didn't have to come with me." He merely answers, "I just want to make sure you'll be okay."
Bellamy comments, "It never fails to surprise me how much you all worry." As Cassius walks away, leaving Bellamy to trail behind, he responds, "We were all human once, after all."

everyone wants to tell artists what to do and i wish we could shift to telling audiences what to do sometimes. if you liked webcomics that were on tapas, follow somewhere else. learn to use RSS. don't let the seamlessness of apps turn your brain into soup. you can change your habits
