i think colibri social actually looks promising as a discord alternative. it's built on atproto too, so all you have to do to use it is log in with your bluesky account and that's it! 😊

series of discord bots called DAAP (Discord As a Proxy) that sends and receives raw packets in a discord channel at speeds unfathomable to mankind.

Okay awesome! I'm concerned about IP leak since it's P2P but I suppose it's not a huge tradeoff for how good the rest of the platform is.

Kya @kyanoxia.com · 15/09/2026

@colibri.social How does your voice/video chat work? Obviously there's gotta be a server there, or is it p2p? I'm very curious because if the voice/video is directly all on protocol, I've missed something huge.

TextMate syntax like VSCode is the only thing stopping me from switching to #zed @zed.dev

I'm in crippling financial distress but I need to collect blood so idrc about that

020

Kya @kyanoxia.com · 04/09/2026

Important that it uses TextMate instead of Tree-Sitter. Zed would be usable if it had TextMate support, but OOHHHHH NOOOO, we only care about AI agents

I would love to see Colibri get more love. I've been looking for a Discord replacement for ages and it seems this is better in every way. It just needs the traction now.

The Atproto Spaces Alpha is Live

Atproto Spaces, formerly known as “the permissioned data protocol,” is a new extension to atproto that enables non-public data. The alpha is now officially open. Here’s how to develop with it and what to expect as we work towards the full release.

Gnome 51 might ship with an updated Mutter that comes with ext-background-effect-v1 support, which means native background blur without hacky solutions like Blur My Shell. If this is the case, I'm moving back to GNOME from Mango/Hyprland.
