Having seen the Encore version of Avengers: Endgame ( still a great flick) & having read most of the Hickman written comics that Doomsday seems to be based on, the ending of the flick will be the destruction of the universe & possibly the creation of Battleworld.

Artist Earle K Bergey sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/bergey... died on this day: here's 3 examples of his SF cover art from 1940-1941. As his SFE entry points out, Bergey's "prodigious output for the Pulp magazines ranged across all genres", so for the curious I've included a non-SF example from 1935:
Earle K Bergey's cover art for "Captain Future, Fall 1940"Earle K Bergey's cover art for "Thrilling Wonder Stories, March 1941"Earle K Bergey's cover art for "Captain Future, Summer 1941"Earle K Bergey's cover art for "Tattle Tales" July 1935. The story 'Star Boarder' probably not SF ...

Organisms from Krypton arrive on Earth and fuse themselves with a Superman robot and a military general with a grudge against the Man of Steel. The Kryptonoid was frozen and banished into deep space after an attempt to conquer Krypton. Now it will get revenge on the man who defeated it -- Jor-El!
The Kryptonoid creature shoots purple rays from its eyes which causes a traffic light to come to life and coil itself around a weakened Superman like a python.

"And once you are dead -- nothing can stop me!" Earth will be MINE!" screams the creature.

RUN FOR COVER (1977) Acrylic on illustration board H. Beam Piper is, of course, best remembered for the Fuzzies of Zarathustra. My involvement with those books began in 1976 when Ace, guided by Jerry Pournelle, repackaged the two original novels: LITTLE FUZZY and FUZZY SAPIENS. #art #booksky 🪐📚
A white haired man stares down a horned and tusked alien boar-like creature as it prepares to charge. Pappy Jack cradles a little fuzzy alien creature in one hand while gripping a laser rifle by the stock with his other. The beast turns intense orange eyes towards the pack of fuzzies that are panicked and looking for cover. The beast’s intentions are clearly hostile from the bristling of its mane to the set of its hooves on the flora covered rise.

Underground and fetish artist Eric Stanton was born 100 years ago, on September 30, 1926. He was also a studio mate with Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. Ditko sometimes helped (uncredited) on Stanton's comics, and I include some of what I believe is that work here.
