they named it cretodorus noonoo. they named it after the vacuum from teletubbies
The new species' unusual appearance also inspired its name: Cretodorus noonoo. The epithet "Noo-Noo" was chosen after the friendly vacuum cleaner from the children's television series Teletubbies, whose long, flexible hose resembles the mouthpart of the ancient insect.

Well, the #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BlackAndRed and the Alt theme is #LongBeaks so we have an I'iwi twofer! I still remember the misty light on this day in Hosmer Grove, felt like I was shooting inside a soft box. :) #birds 🦉🌿📷

There's lots of discussion about moving overseas to escape queerphobia, poor scientific funding, political research agendas. I'm in the (slow) process of moving Australia to Norway as a US citizen so I'll make a running thread about the financial realities of international moves.

One of the young roadrunners returned about an hour later. I brought out the snack bowl but the noise from the wind is still bugging. So I took back the bowl and tossed the snacks over to Nervous Nellie. That worked much better. The birds hatched in April, how long can I call them young, I wonder?
A visiting roadrunner is standing about 5 feet away from a bowl of mealworms on a backyard patio. It is windy and the noise makes the bird nervous.

LRP, in high school my friend took too much Tylenol and the ER gave her activated charcoal to sip. That's what they give to you to get medication out of your system/absorb it. If you drink/eat something that is black in color this spooky season, it likely has activated charcoal which nullifies meds.

Knowing that there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of cases just like this that never make the headlines, knowing that protections for men have always been paramount, knowing that if Jane Does name is unveiled, everyone will remember her name but society will forget the men.

When the Cornell 7 triggers you because you and so many of your friends, siblings and loved ones have been assaulted but no justice was given, knowing that this isn’t new, its decades of behavior, that it can be unsafe to be female and exist and there is little you can do but be on guard.

Fortunes weave! They tried to get me into 3 houses but I couldn’t deal with the initial “student” trope setting. I might go back as I’ve heard so much about the late game it is interesting. Currently chap 9 of Theodora’s path and Tobias is muh boi. I might need to do some fan art at some point😂

#InverteFest announcement: The December art book will be our 8th and last edition. We've been doing this since 2024 but my real life responsibilities have changed. We might revive the idea in the future in one form or another, but no promises. If you want in, this is your last chance.

These were three individual pieces I did in 2021. Unplanned, they became something of an accidental sequence. They then prompted me to make the piece in the quoted post, of the pumpkin dance, by way of a conclusion. Ink on Fabriano Medioevalis, each 95 × 64 mm.
Three small silhouette drawings in black ink. The first is of a sitting fox, looking back over its shoulder at a bird on the branch of a little bare shrub. The second has a playful-looking fox, half-crouched, tail in the air, looking at a bird which has just taken off from a branch. The third shows a fox, surprised, its head drawn slightly back, as it seems to have come upon a pumpkin on the ground, surrounded by its vines. It has a face like a carved jack-o'-lantern.
