Anyone have theories on the next human experience to be automated by the AI bros? I’m guessing meditation. Get the AI model to run an empty loop and wait to feel more relaxed.

I’m starting to think AI acolytes have chosen the most convoluted form of suicide possible, replacing their lives with models piece by piece.

‘Read symptoms’ - never going to trust the medical opinion of someone who doesn’t know the difference between signs and symptoms, or else knows and doesn’t think checking vitals is … vital.

Interested to see how the medical malpractice cases work out with use of LLMs. There are pretty strict rules for other software used in medicine, but we don’t have a good way to exhaustively test AI.

I taught my dog ‘thank you’ as the command for ‘give me the thing’, because that’s what my Mom used when training dogs. This was a mistake. My husband refuses to thank the dog before she has done anything. 🙄

It’s worse in cities, the wild animals are more habituated to humans so close contact with pets is more likely. Good for the groomers sticking with the safety rules when faced with an irate customer.

In pets, at least in my state, the protocol involves a dose of opiates first and then the pentobarbital until death. The protocol described here only had the pento and a dose limit. I wonder if someone removed the dose of opiates without realizing it was part of the nervous system depression.

Advances in the field of killing people. My apologies, I briefly worked for a defense company and I haven’t been able to get rid of the euphemisms. Personally I don’t think there’s a difference between killing people because crime and killing people because war. It’s just the acceptable optics.

Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The countries that supply the medication we use to euthanize pets have refused to supply it for execution of prisoners. Thats part of the reason there are different protocols that are being tried and failing. That the protocol didn’t have a contingency for ‘not dead yet’ is just malpractice.

Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
It’s much easier to kill someone if you don’t need to worry about it looking humane and controlled. Usually advances in that field focus on efficiency not audience trauma potential.

Plus, to justify the money spent on fancy software to make things ‘easier’ ATC staffing will be cut. 😣

I don’t get the feeling anyone mentioned in the article is taking the project seriously. I hope the FAA is still funded, supported, and stocked with the expertise necessary to wrangle this kind of project.

And if you are depending on an ATC RealHuman(tm) to make the final decision so that the software is (less) legally liable, what data and response time does that person need to be able to check the work of the AI? Is it actually saving time if the human is duplicating the AI’s work to check it?
100
Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
That’s before the weirdness of testing AI comes into it. How do you prove that an AI is trained enough? How do you prove that its decisions will come out the same every time? Is the finished product before the AI is trained or after?
100
Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The terrain awareness system I worked on was tested against every published approach, missed approach, holding pattern, and departure for every airport in the US. ATC software would be that but for every configuration of aircraft, in air and on the ground.
100
Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Back when I wrote avionics software, the idea of automating ATC was a thought exercise for late night, waiting of results musing. The problem isn’t writing the software. The problem is proving the software works. How good is good enough?
100
Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
My question, as a former avionics software engineer, is how are they going to test it? How do you know when the AI is trained enough? How do you prove the program is safe for every airport, every approach, every departure, every configuration of planes?
100
Erika @krystolla.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
According to the article there is still going to be an ATC accepting or rejecting every computer generated suggestion. So accountability still on the human. But, unclear how the human is supposed to check the computer’s work without duplicating doing the same mental work they do now.
