Please remember that for every VE Schwab and Stephen King, there are a lot of banned Black, queer, and POC writers you've never heard of, to whom it is maybe not a badge of honor but a denial of their voice. Being banned is not a marketing opportunity, unless one is already rich.

It makes a lot of sense when you realize a lot of originalists idolize the Lochnerian view of the primacy of contracts above government's regulatory powers. He views marriage law as an extension of contract law and therefore sacrosanct even if he himself hates gays being able to marry.

In TSA & the man behind me insisted on guiding my trays thru and scooting them to me after screening. When I didn’t acknowledge him he muttered “you’re welcome” under his breath. I need to be clear that touching someone else’s belongings w/out consent is not an act for which one should be thanked.

Something remarkable is happening: James Talarico is running an expansively pro-immigrant campaign in Texas, a state Trump won by 14 points, speaking in Biblical terms about our duty to "the stranger." And it's resonating. That's seismic. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2160...

It is absolutely shocking how little Democrats have learned from Trump. The #1 thing he's taught is that swing voters will still vote for you despite "controversial" positions. So stand up for the truth, and let people know why. The offended ones weren't going to vote for you anyway.
