And let's be real: World Rugby had to be forced to get a women's world cup. The first couple of them were not sanctioned by IRB, until a decade later they decided "no wait those count too" So they have a history of not listening to what the women actually playing the sport have to say. 🙄

Honestly I don't think it matters at an unprofessional/beer league level. I've scrummed and tackled against a whole rainbow of people, and their skill level had absolutely nothing to do with their gender or size.

There is no gender divide in rugby rules. It is the exact same code no matter what size or gender you are. It's also a sport that is famously comprised of people who are comically different sizes. Like how the fuck can you harp on about size difference when this is literally what the pros look like

Genuine question: Have you actually played rugby before? Because get this: when I played for my team? In this league? Our practices were co-ed. I learned to scrum against cis men, lots of whom were either former collegiate or ex-military.

We literally were doing fine until the governing body (who was already on thin fucking ice on a good day for reasons I don't have the energy to get in to) decided they want to try and stop us from fielding a team with our friends. Not one damn person who I have played with asked for this.

Like I need to be so fucking for real with you: casual rugby in America is queer as fuck. LGBTQ+ teams/leagues have been around for a lot longer than people realize. Hell, I literally joined my team because I they were recruiting at a gay bar. I know teams that do drag shows as fundraisers.

So just to follow: this is an anecdote about a totally different sport. a sport which, famously, is lower contact. where maybe the problem may have been less because there was a trans person and more that you don't tackle people in soccer. we have a solution for that: it's called a red card 🫠

They don't employ that many people. Their revenue and offices are elsewhere. They have construction costs, but those aren't perpetual. They use water and power, but aren't paying any more than I can tell compared to anyone else.
