I want to see designers avoid designing against "alpha-gaming." It limits creativity and innovation in what games could be. At it's heart, alpha-gaming is a PERSON problem, not a game problem. The best comparison I've heard is cheating. Not many games are designed to prevent cheating?

“Unbiased” board game reviews are the last ones to be trusted. Everyone has biases. Far more trustworthy are reviews that acknowledge their influence and bias. It indicates a level of awareness, honesty, and ability to contextualize that hints at more thoughtful and meaningful analysis and review.
