I know it seems morbid, but it's REALLY HELPFUL to those you leave behind. If you don't write a full obituary, then at least leave a document with the facts about your life (e.g. your birthdate, what schools you went to, where you worked, hobbies, proudest accomplishments, etc).

it's definitely a real trauma, plus it's a moment in time when even the people who didn't experience loss felt powerlessness and fear unfortunately the sight of a visibly disabled person is a big trigger, especially when most of the world has agreed to memory hole it and "go back to normal"

oh yes, walking around masked means i constantly encounter that, even just running errands. once someone in my buildings parking lot started yelling at me over it. even when i was changing therapists at least two got angry at me about trying to maintain what's left of my health
