I think part of the reason small-talk is so daunting to me is that I tend to internalize it as further evidence that I’m not close enough to anyone to be worthy of the real answers.
“How are you?”
“Good” “Not bad” “Could be worse”
And I don’t want to press for more, but I wish they’d say more, yk?
