The yellow strat did come into effect at the end, but thanks to my wife, not because of me. We each ended with 2 certs over the limit. "Going yellow" is likely more an endgame move than an early or mid-game move. She beat me by $139 by making me buy a diesel out of the pocket for $400....

Ideally, I would borrow my grandfather's bulldozer and a compass. Once I had the necessary bearing to my destination, I would have someone simply bulldoze everything in a straight line between myself and my destination, while I followed. This was to conserve gas in the 1970s, of course.

The corners are (or used to be) rounded in a tumbler. Making precision molds with rounded corners is possible, but I do not know if dice manufacturers use them currently.

If you were to poll, a majority would likely say that six-siders with rounded corners feel more pleasant to hold in one's hand. Therefore there is a latent bias towards them in manufacturing. Or something like that.
