70 years ago today my father took these photographs with his mother's camera. He was 13 years old at the time. This rescue operation led to the establishment of local rescue service ("Eiðis bjargingarfelag") which runs to this day.

A Russian ship ran onshore. All the crew was rescued by the locals of the village of Eiði.

I went out foraging for medicinal tea. Basswood/Linden flowers and leaves make a light, floral tea that's great for colds, fevers, and just feeling run-down. I collect it every June and dry it to use in the winter.
