2026: PRC Prosecutions for Incorrect Views on Chinese History
After reading the two front-page articles from the August 20 issue of China Social Science News translated at 2026: Beware Historical Nihilism! The Tang Dynasty was Not a Fake Dynasty I got to wondering about Chinese law and prosecutions for politically incorrect view of Chinese history. In these latter days the prosecutions about writing and publishing are actually a kinder and gentler approach compared with the way matters were handled both formally and informally in Mao's day when thinking the wrong thoughts was itself a crime.

Some summers ago my partner taught me a Spanish phrase, “Sólo los perros locos y los ingleses pasean bajo el sol de mediodía” TIL the original comes from a 1931 song “Mad Dogs and English Man” by Noël Coward. Its lyrics are pretty much a tour of British empire. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Dog...
