Or as we like to call it: the second 90% 🤭 I'm glad to see the plagiarism machine aimed at a big corp for once

Somewhat off topic: I always find "per X" pricing, where X is the thing that is challenging for the customer, weird. Sure, it scales nicely with customer size, but it also disincentivizes use of X, to the point where using one more X might require an official sign off. 🫠

Scala has Scala Native (LLVM) and Scala.js. I have never used either.

In the EU companies must hand you data they have in "a common format" when requested. Might be worth a shot account.microsoft.com/privacy/priv... Maybe the whiteboard exports are all in there

As someone who has carried an actual rifle on their back: the process of unslinging it and getting it ready to use is lengthy and, more importantly, very undignified. That clearly wouldn't do for Mr. Bond. So my guess would be: animations look more authentically "high speed operator" this way

Cool project, need to check it out 😎 One note about the flyer: the black border around the QR Code needs to go. The QR standard requires that the area immediately around the QR code is bright. Apple devices often tolerate this while many Android devices will fail to detect the code.

Sure, this generates interesting stories, but I'm not sure if those feelings and lessons are what I want my players to take away from my games. I'd much rather have my game emphasize that you can overcome adversity if you trust others, if you work together even if it means making yourself vulnerable

One could equally argue that Stonetops essence (there are no monsters; humans are the true monsters) presents trust, cooperation and love as vulnerability; that it frames game theory, the dark forest mindset and cowardice as the "correct" choice.

I respect Quinns, but I also wouldn't assign too much weight to that throwaway statement of his. His whole power fantasy argument seems cherry picked to me.

Blurb is fine, but not sure how effective it is. Will the name attached to the blurb mean anything to your potential buyers? Many TTRPG books don't feature the name of their designer on their cover.

Colored and numbered bases to uniquely identify each mini (red 2, green 2, green 4, etc). The GM keeps track of damage dealt to each mini (secret). Conditions are represented on the board (lay mini flat, color-coded tokens next to the mini, etc)

One of the most valuable books for Pathfinder 1e was the NPC Guide. It contained a unique character for each level of every single class. It saved me countless hours of prep work. But it is also by far the least exciting book in the PF1 range.

It's interesting how my answer would be different for "what I'd find most useful" vs. "what I most wish existed". I love reading adventures and setting books, but monsters, treasures and encounters are what help me prep. Improvising a setting: doable. Improvising play-tested, balanced monsters: hard

You've got to be kidding, @github.com 🤯. Instead of releasing two new copilot branded features per week, how about making the PR code review feature usable? This should be in your interest. With LLM-generated code, a good review experience is now more important than ever!

As a docs reader, it's nice to have all docs searchable in one place. Microsoft hosts some of their windows crate docs themselves and it's always a journey to find their docs site again. Would be cool if such crates were still indexed on crates.io even if the actual docs live elsewhere. ActivityPub?

Once I inevitably enable rainbow brackets and semantic highlighting for identifiers, there won't be much left of whatever theme I am using 😂🌈 (the IntelliJ one is fine, I guess)

I also think about the engineer(s) who implemented this dialog and the change to denylist notepad.exe. Were they spineless yes-men? Or were they taken for a ride with smooth talk about "protecting users from themselves" or data-driven nonsense like "98.7% of users love the new notepad"?

Why do you even care? If a user doesn't want your new AI bullshit version of notepad, you are not going to win them over anyway. And the audacity, to think you have any say in which application I use to interact with my files, shows a staggering disconnect between MS decision making and their users.

Holy fuck. It's one thing for Microsoft to silently replace Windows notepad with their new AI-integrated version of notepad. But it's an entirely different level of malice to go out of their way to actually prevent people from associating .txt with the original notepad.exe. I'm so done with Windows.

I don't feel this is the case for async implementations where async routines don't need to be "driven to completion" (.NET, Web platform). There, you _may_ wait for an async routine to complete, but whether you do is entirely orthogonal to the execution of the async routine.

That's wild! Here, the European GDPR's Right to rectification (art 16) would come in handy. I always found that part of the law bizarre, but looking back it was oddly prescient. Libel laws are really hard to wield against AI because they will argue that they weren't *knowingly* spreading lies.

TIL NVMe SSDs are now cheaper than SATA SSDs. I mean economically, in terms of volume, it makes sense, but just a few years ago a large m.2 stick was a decadent luxury good 🤯 Now it's like: "if I had more PCIe lanes, I'd buy another m.2, but I guess I have to go with the pricy SATA option instead"

Today, I use (paid) proton for email/calendar and (paid) Kagi for search. I still use YouTube and Google Maps, though. Yes alternatives exist, but my personal risk profile is way different. If I lost access to maps one day: no big deal vs. if I lost access to Gmail I would have been ruined before.

Reducing my Google dependence took a long time. Get an email provider that lets you bring your own domain. That way, the provider doesn't "own" your identity, and you can always switch providers while your email address stays the same. I then slowly started using my new address. Took about a year.

I enjoyed Alters, but to be crystal clear: I won't pay you or any other studio for AI garbage. If I wanted creatively bankrupt, average af AI slop, I can generate that myself, thanks. I don't need you as a middleman. When I pay for a game, it's for the human craftsmanship, expertise and creativity.

Least favourite thing in video games by far: endlessly re-spawning minions in boss fights. It's just so antithetical to how I approach challenges: one problem at a time.

If you do want the old notepad back, you can uninstall the Windows Store Version of notepad (installed secretly and without your consent) and fall back to the old version shipped with the OS. You will have to create a Start Menu entry for it.

Last time I had to use git (repo with a submodule) it was absolutely bewildering. Intellectually I still knew git's model, but emotionally I was like: why is what I actually want to do obscured behind arcane steps and concepts? Why not just do the thing? Why should I care about your index/stage?

The "desktop mode" toggle once again comes to the rescue. Countless times colleagues at work have stared at mobile Firefox in envy as it lets me fool poorly written enterprise apps into cooperation while they are forced to unpack their laptops to have a three row <table> displayed.

And we're back in the dark ages of browser mono culture 🙄🙄🙄 (Mobile Firefox, which, I might add, works perfectly fine for 99.999% of the modern web)
