@crgalvin.bsky.social I have discovered some 'distant' Galvin connections- Margaret Malone married Robert Galvin in Ballyhea in 1893 in Co Cork. Had four sons- at least 3 ended up in the US. We're talking fourth cousin distance to this line though!

"It is morally repugnant – to Hager, to his TU informants, to many others – that you would deliberately stir up hatred in a society, simply because it was an effective way to achieve your goals." Great read by Simon Wilson on Nicky Hager's book simonwilsonhopetown.substack.com/p/dirty-work...

Another Malone sibling followed down the line- another DNA match. Huh- my old assumption that this 'earlier' family probably wasn't related has been well and truly debunked.

The wonderful Niagara Hall in Southland, next to the facetiously named Niagara Falls ( a trickle of water at best over some rocks). Old white community shed with a red roof. Seacliff farm sheds, North Dunedin #Nikon #Rural I've always been a fan of this fangled new 'hyper localism', a reaction to 'influencer photographers' all travelling to the same insanely beautiful 'secret' location to get iconic shots. Celebrating the local rocks my boat too
A shed north of Dunedin. Loving 'hyper localism' - celebrating the local instead of the iconic influencer photography

So NZFirst wants us to have more measles related deaths and disabilities with their new policy. Clearly Kennedy and MAHA are their inspiration.

Update, no wonder the young girl was terrified as her bike (with her on it) was being pushed towards the harbour - bloody 126km frontal wind hit us. I was struggling to stand up, thankfully she trusted me to shelter her with our backs to the wind, hail & sea spray
Port Otago Weather station measured 126km gusts on Otago Peninsula this afternoon when I was out for a walk

I don’t often really hear the rain much at my place as I have a tile roof. But we just had a heavy burst with the wind blowing it on my bedroom windows, not a common direction… I’m awake now.

A turn-up for the books. A couple died not too far apart. Deaths were registered twice, some time apart, by two different family members 'present at death'. On same page of register. Am presuming the earlier dates are the correct ones.

PS: Climate activist Bruce Mahalski, who had a ticket for the "public" event, was one of 15 people refused entry by Act's private security. Two others with them were let in, but immediately ejected when the slogan on their t-shirts was noticed. Party of free speech, right.

This Kaitaka, 'Te Rerenga' speaks of the wonderful journey my dad took me on and it speaks of his final journey. It speaks of his life as a carver, his life as a storyteller. It speaks of my journey with grief. 'Te Rerenga' became my dads final masterclass to me in storytelling.

I completed the Kaitaka I wove to honour my late father, TeRangikaiamokura Hetet . The first place I took the Kaitaka to was to lay on one of the Waka dad carved. This served as a form of Karakia - an acknowledgement of my dad and of the Kaitaka and its story.

Labour would do well to think about why the First Labour govt is held in such high regard and why Savage is revered to this day in a way no other Australasian political leader is. They were not revolutionaries, but were pragmatic reformers guided by vision and commitment.
