Pen and watercolor

A pack of witches dance around a fire circle summoning a massive demon in the flames. One of our witches is down though, reader. She lets her sisters know that she won’t be continuing the circle. “Gotta sit this one out, sisters,” she says. “Rolled my ankle.”

I played around with adding a lot of detail to this scene (more shadows, trees in the background, etc.) I think the simpler version works but I’m not sure how I feel about the fire demon drawing. I think I like it. Was having trouble getting the composition of the scene set up with a text bubble in the bottom right. I do like the purple against the black dresses and little boots.

Got some new spooky items from Superstore recently ehehe Halloween is the best time of the year

Some items on a baking sheet in front of a window AC unit: Plastic skull on a paper towel roll, an empty pot, tiny black skull that lights up (it's not currently), and a pumpkin spice scented candle in a ceramic pumpkin jar.

Fake candles (lit), a plastic ghost that lights up, a crochet frog, and a fake, costume bunny tail pompom. One of the candles is on a stand shaped like a crow or raven. There was an unmentionable item in the bg so I removed it in Google photos 😅 There's other junk back there but they don't matter.

For this autumn writing season, I plan to work on: - Affluent Haunting novella ver - edit Magic As We Make It vol 1 If there's time at the end (doubt) then I'll work on rewriting part 1 of Lone Blind Star, but most likely I'll need to let it rest after getting group feedback this mid season 🍂 📝

a deeply personal piece, which initially started as an exercise of loose, fun drawing and turned into something more. i painted over my own scoliosis x-rays, not knowing where this was going to end. it speaks of trauma and is kind of an ode to my scorpio moon. #witchyart #poetry #scorpiomoon

the poem reads:

i shed my ribbon apple skin but
my insides remain the same
a larvae infested, rotten core,
cracked bones, a crooked spine
crawling like a centipede,
its ribcage-like limbs holding together,
my hagstone body, seethed in brine.

i have been peeled, bitten into, chewed,
but i am no sweet apple, plump and seedy,
i am a labyrinthine beetle map, a porous death trap,
organs preserved in cobwebs
like a pharaoh's precious jewels,
vermin-full of imperfect, moldy flesh,

so spit me out, rinse me out,
you're the one that sunk your teeth into this decaying viscera of mine,
you fed, like persephone,
on the food of the dead,
forfeiting half your life,
to this worm-infested earth.

breathe in the dirt, my darling,
lungs filled with unearthed aching,
